In 2024, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport's passenger throughput reached 76.369 million, marking a year-on-year increase of 20.89% and setting a new historical record. This marks Guangzhou Baiyun Airport's second time to surpass 70 million passengers, following its first achievement of over 70 million in 2019. Additionally, it has held the top position for annual passenger throughput among all airports in China for four consecutive years.

As one of China's three major international aviation hubs, in 2024, Guangzhou Baiyun Airport added, resumed, or increased frequency on over 60 international passenger routes. It also welcomed six new international airlines and introduced more than ten new passenger destinations, including Budapest and Tashkent. Notably, the Guangzhou-Belgrade route marked a breakthrough by providing the first direct flight to Eastern Europe, the Guangzhou-Tashkent route filled the gap for direct flights to Central Asia, and the Guangzhou-Moscow-Caracas route opened a new connection to South America. The launch of these routes significantly enhanced Guangzhou's position as an international aviation hub.

Several convenience policies have also driven the international development of Baiyun Airport. Measures such as 24-hour customs clearance and 240-hour visa-free transit have attracted more international travelers to choose Guangzhou as their entry point. On July 11th, 2024, more than ten transfer passengers became the first group to experience Guangzhou's free one-day tour, further showcasing the city's cultural appeal.

On domestic routes, the airport added over ten new destinations, including Langzhong, Karamay, and Anyang. Its route network now covers nearly all major civil aviation airports.
To enhance the passenger experience, the airport has continued to upgrade its "second-level operation control" system, improving the efficiency of flight cutoff operations. Starting in December 2024, the cutoff time for international and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan outbound flights has been reduced to within 60 minutes.

2024年，广州白云国际机场旅客吞吐量达7636.9万人次，同比增长20.89%，再创历史新高。这是白云机场继2019年首次突破7000万人次后，再次迈入“7000万级俱乐部”，并连续四年位居全国机场年旅客吞吐量首位。

作为全国三大国际航空枢纽之一，2024年白云机场新增、恢复或加密国际客运航线超60条，引入6家国际航空公司，新增布达佩斯、塔什干等十多个客运通航点。其中，广州-贝尔格莱德航线实现了东欧直飞零的突破；广州-塔什干航线填补了中亚直飞空白；广州-莫斯科-加拉加斯航线更是开辟了连接南美的新通道。这些航线的开通大幅提升了广州作为国际航空枢纽的地位。  

多项便利政策也推动了白云机场的国际化发展。24小时通关、240小时过境免签等措施吸引了更多国际旅客选择广州入境。2024年7月11日，十多名中转旅客成为广州免费一日游的首批体验者，进一步展现了广州的文化吸引力。  

在国内航线上，白云机场新增了阆中、克拉玛依、安阳等十多个新航点，航线网络已基本覆盖主要民航机场。

为优化旅客体验，白云机场持续升级“秒级运控”系统，提升航班截载效率。2024年12月起，国际及港澳台地区出港客运航班截载时间缩短至60分钟内。
