In 2024, Guangdong faces increasing internal challenges and a complex external environment. However, the province has confronted these challenges head-on, achieving growth in foreign trade, maintaining stable employment, and fostering a flourishing cultural and tourism sector, with several key indicators ranking among the top in China. Starting today, Yangcheng Evening News will launch the "Vibrant Guangdong" series, focusing on the vitality of Guangdong and revealing the secrets behind its development.
In 2024, Guangdong has maintained its position as the top performer in regional innovation capabilities for eight consecutive years. In the first three quarters of 2024, the added value of Guangdong's advanced manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing industries grew by 6.9% and 11.6%, respectively, with their share of total industrial output increasing to 56% and 31.5%. By November 2024, Guangdong's total foreign trade imports and exports reached 8.27 trillion yuan, a 10% year-on-year increase, surpassing the national growth rate by 5.1 percentage points. Of this, exports amounted to 5.37 trillion yuan, Growing by 8.7%. Additionally, the province created 1.3557 million new urban jobs, a 3.9% increase compared to the previous year.
According to the Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Statistics, in the first three quarters of 2024, Guangdong's Gross Regional Product (GRP) reached 99.93918 trillion yuan, accounting for more than 10% of the national economy. In fact, according to the preliminary data from the National Bureau of Statistics, Guangdong's GRP for 2023 was 135.67316 trillion yuan, maintaining its position as the top-performing province in China for 35 consecutive years.
In terms of production, from January to November, guangdong's value-added industrial output for enterprises above a designated size grew by 4.3% year-on-year, with 64.1% of the major industrial sectors showing growth. From January to October, the province's revenue from large-scale service industries reached 4.54 trillion yuan, marking an 8.2% year-on-year increase. Revenue from high-tech service industries in large-scale enterprises grew by 8.3%.
In major infrastructure projects, guangdong has also achieved impressive results: the Huangmaohai Cross-Sea Passage began trial operations, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link was completed and opened to traffic, the Pearl River Delta (PRD) Water Resource Allocation Project officially began water supply operations, and the Meilong High-Speed Railway was opened.
Since 2024, guangdong has accelerated the transformation and upgrading of its traditional industries, and the development of new quality productive forces has been flourishing. The province has ranked first in the country for eight consecutive years in terms of the number of national-level high-tech enterprises.
"Made in Guangdong" products, including 5G technology, electric vehicles, industrial robots, and other key technologies and products across various industrial chains, have entered the global leadership ranks. In November, the production of Guangdong's new energy vehicles, industrial robots, and civilian drones increased year-on-year by 85.4%, 29.0%, and 135.9%, respectively.
Guangdong has been the top producer of automobiles in China for seven consecutive years. In 2023, the province's production of new energy vehicles reached 2.53 million units, ranking first in the country. One in every four new energy vehicles in China is "Made in Guangdong."
Guangdong has developed three major hubs for the low-altitude industry, located in Shenzhen, guangzhou, and Zhuhai. The split-type flying car "Land Aircraft Carrier," developed and produced by Guangzhou's Xpeng Aeroht, made its global debut flight. Additionally, the first national low-altitude economic application demonstration island has been established in Guangzhou's University Town.
One in every three industrial robots in China is "Made in Guangdong." the RB500 robot, developed by GSK CNC Equipment Co. Ltd., has broken the long-standing foreign monopoly on heavy-duty industrial robots.
A series of data tells the story of how Guangdong, as a major economic province, moved forward in 2024. It also reflects how Guangdong, as the leader of the national economy, has navigated through economic cycles and steered steadily through the turbulent waters of economic development.

2024年,广东省区域创新综合能力连续8年居全国第一;2024年前三季度,广东先进制造业、高技术制造业增加值分别增长6.9%、11.6%,占规上工业比重提高到56%、31.5%;2024年前11月,广东外贸进出口8.27万亿元,同比增长10%,高于全国增速5.1个百分点,其中,出口5.37万亿元,增长8.7%;全省城镇新增就业累计135.57万人,同比上升3.9%……
广东省统计局发布,2024年前三季度,广东实现地区生产总值99939.18亿元,超过全国经济总量的十分之一。事实上,经国家统计局统一核算,2023年广东实现地区生产总值(初步核算数)135673.16亿元,已连续35年位居全国首位。
从生产看,1-11月份,全省规模以上工业增加值同比增长4.3%,全省在产工业行业大类增长面64.1%;1-10月份,全省规模以上服务业实现营业收入4.54万亿元,同比增长8.2%,规模以上高技术服务业营业收入增长8.3%。
在重大工程建设中,广东成绩同样亮眼:黄茅海跨海通道通车试运营、深中通道建成通车、珠江三角洲水资源配置工程正式供水运营、梅龙高铁开通运营……
2024年以来,广东传统产业加快转型升级,新质生产力发展欣欣向荣。广东拥有国家级高新技术企业数量连续8年排名全国第一。
“广东造”5G、新能源汽车、工业机器人等一大批产业链关键技术和产品进入全球第一方阵。11月,广东新能源汽车、工业机器人、民用无人机产品产量分别同比增长85.4%、29.0%、135.9%。
——广东汽车产量连续七年居全国第一;2023年新能源汽车年产量达253万辆,居全国第一,全国每4辆新能源汽车便有一辆“广东造”。
——广东形成深圳、广州、珠海三大低空产业制造聚集区。广州小鹏汇天研发生产的分体式飞行汽车“陆地航母”全球首次公开飞行,全国首个低空经济应用示范岛落户广州大学城。
——全国每3台工业机器人就有一台“广东造”,由广州数控设备有限公司研发的RB500机器人打破了重载工业机器人长期被国外垄断的局面。
