Exoskeletons that make you feel light, mattresses that adjust to your sleeping position, and cars that can fly or drive on the ground... On September 21st, the main event for the 2024 National Science Popularization Day in Guangzhou kicked off at Pazhou Science Center of the Guangdong Academy of Sciences. This year's main event spans two days for the first time, featuring five major exhibition areas with over 170 booths. It showcases the science resources, technological achievements, and research capabilities of Guangzhou, allowing citizens to experience the incredible charm of how technological innovation transforms lives.

At the event, a stunning science popularization corridor captured the attention of the audience. Many parents and children were seen browsing the science promotion displays and participating in Q&A sessions.

In front of GAC Group's booth, a model of the latest GOVE multi-rotor flying car showcased a new mode of transportation for the future. According to staff from GAC Group, they plan to launch a demonstration program for flying cars in 2027, creating an intercity three-dimensional travel model across 2 to 3 cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Local tech company Shipeng Technology showcased their latest product: a walking assist exoskeleton robot. This robot, which straps around the waist and legs, can not only help individuals with mobility challenges regain their ability to walk but also allow able-bodied users to feel light as a feather.

Deng Wenzhong, Foreign Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Member of National Academy of Engineering, and Liu Huanbin, Foreign Member of Russian Academy of Sciences, shared their cutting-edge technological achievements at the event. They effectively simplified complex scientific knowledge, helping bridge the gap between science and the public.
