The film "Lingering Dream of Homeland," written, directed, and starred in by a native of Taishan, Guangdong, held its premiere in Flushing, New York, on the afternoon of August 25th. The event was attended by leaders from dozens of community organizations and around 300 viewers. The film tells the story of an elderly overseas Chinese returning to Taishan with his grandson to trace their roots, deeply portraying the century-long wandering life and cultural quest of Taishan people in America, resonating with many overseas Chinese.

"Among the viewers, the youngest was 10 years old, and the oldest was 104," said Li Weinian, the director. He added that after the film was shown in New York, many overseas Chinese communities or organizations in other cities contacted them, expressing a desire to screen the movie in their cities.

After watching the film, some Chinese viewers expressed that it deeply moved them and provided the Chinese now living in the United States with a better understanding of the immigration history of their ancestors who moved from Taishan, Guangdong, to America.

Li Weinian hopes that the film will allow elder Taishan people to relive the touching history of their wandering life while also helping younger generations of overseas Chinese understand the hardships their ancestors faced when leaving their homeland.

In June 2023, the film had a charity premiere in Hong Kong, where people from various sectors in Hong Kong, including representatives from the Jiangmen Wuyi community, gathered to watch it together. It is also the first film in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to focus on the theme of overseas Chinese.

华侨历史电影《故园飘梦》在美国法拉盛首映

由广东台山人自编自导自演的影片《故园飘梦》于纽约当地时间8月25日下午，在美国纽约法拉盛举办首映活动，数十家社团的侨领及约300名观众参加。这部电影讲述了一位老华侨带孙子回到台山寻根的故事，深刻展现了一代台山人在美国百年的漂泊史与文化追寻，触动了不少在美侨胞的心弦。

“到场的观众中，最小的年龄10岁，最大104岁。”《故园飘梦》导演李伟年说，“该电影当天在纽约放映后，海外许多城市的华人社团纷纷联系我们，提出希望该电影能在他们所在的城市放映。”

观影后，有华人表示，这部电影让他们有很大感触，也让当下生活在美国的华人华侨对他们祖辈从广东台山前往美国生活的移民史有了更深的了解。

李伟年说，希望通过这部电影，让老一辈的台山人重温当年那段令人感慨万千的华侨漂泊史，同时也通过海外年轻华人后裔的视角，了解老一辈离乡别井的辛酸。

2023年6月，该电影在香港举行慈善首映礼，香港各界人士以及香港江门五邑乡亲等多方代表欢聚一堂，共同观赏这部电影。该电影也是粤港澳大湾区首部反映华侨主题的电影。
