Guangzhou's 'second-generation entrepreneurs' setting sights on hydrogen-powered bicycle market

Last month, a new generation of hydrogen-powered bicycles was launched in Panyu, Guangzhou. This introduced a new type of member to Guangzhou's green transportation.

Fan Fei, the General Manager of Qingfeng Technology and operator of hydrogen-powered bicycles, is a second-generation entrepreneur from Guangzhou. In 2021, during a business trip, Fan met two experts in hydrogen energy research. They shared insights into the prospects and applications of hydrogen energy in China, sparking Fan Fei's strong interest in this emerging field.

After further understanding and research, Fan became convinced that hydrogen energy, as a clean and efficient form of energy, is increasingly favored by many cities, even more so than electric power.

China is actively establishing the hydrogen energy industry chain, promoting the research and application of hydrogen technology, which provides him with a brand-new entrepreneurial opportunity.

The projected scale of the global hydrogen energy industry chain market is staggering, with forecasts indicating a remarkable 1.5 trillion dollars by 2030. Domestically, regions such as Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Shanghai, Guangdong, and  Henan in China have rapidly expanded their hydrogen energy industries nationwide.

Upon further exploration, Fan recognized the market potential of hydrogen-powered bicycles. The primary concern with new energy applications often revolves around safety. For instance, current lithium-ion battery electric bicycles have reached a bottleneck, particularly due to fire hazards. Hydrogen-powered bicycles, on the other hand, not only effectively mitigate various drawbacks seen in automotive applications but also promise broader application prospects. From a system selection perspective, solid-state hydrogen storage technology offers robust support for hydrogen-powered bicycles with the advantages of low pressure and reduced risk. In terms of product application, hydrogen-powered bicycles meet urban transportation needs effectively while reducing energy consumption and environmental pollution. Regarding investment costs, the relatively low cost of small-scale fuel cells makes the widespread adoption of hydrogen-powered bicycles economically viable.

Therefore, Fan has chosen to step into solid-state hydrogen storage combined with small-scale fuel cells. Currently, Qingfeng Technology is actively expanding its hydrogen-powered bicycle-sharing business. The first batch of products has been successfully launched in Guangzhou, receiving positive feedback.

Fan expressed plans to further develop in the field of solid-state hydrogen storage and small-scale fuel cells in the future. Additionally, he aims to actively expand into emerging markets such as hydrogen-powered drones. Fan mentioned that he intends to actively seek cooperation and exchanges with international hydrogen energy sectors, aiming to promote their products and operational models in overseas markets.

广州“创二代”瞄准氢能自行车市场

上个月,一批全新一代氢能助力单车开始在广州番禺投放。由此,广州的绿色交通有了全新类型的成员。

作为氢能助力单车运营商的氢锋科技总经理樊飞是一名广州创二代。2021年,在一次商务之旅中,樊飞结识了两位从事氢能研究的专家。他们与樊飞分享了氢能在中国的发展前景和应用领域,让他对这个新兴领域产生了浓厚兴趣。

经过进一步了解和研究,樊飞确信了一件事,那就是氢能作为一种清洁、高效的能源形式,甚至比电能还要受到越来越多城市的青睐。

中国正积极布局氢能产业链,推动氢能技术的研发和应用。这为他提供了一个全新的创业机遇。

全球氢能产业链市场规模的预测数据令人振奋,预计到2030年将达到惊人的1.5万亿美元。国内京津冀、上海、广东、河南和河北等地的氢能产业也已经在全国范围内快速铺开。

樊飞进一步深挖,看到了氢能两轮车的市场潜力。新能源应用最大的“威胁”往往就是安全性。比如当下的锂电池电动单车已经发展到了瓶颈,这就是火灾隐患。恰恰氢能两轮车不仅能够有效规避汽车应用中的种种弊端,而且具有更为广泛的应用前景。从系统选择上来看,固态储氢技术以其低压、低危险性的优势,为氢能两轮车的应用提供了有力支持。在应用端产品上,氢能两轮车能够很好地满足市民出行需求,同时降低能源消耗和环境污染。在投资成本方面,小功率燃料电池的造价相对较低,使得氢能两轮车的推广更具经济效益。

因此,樊飞选择了从固态储氢搭配小功率燃料电池这一赛道切入。目前,氢锋科技正在积极布局氢能助力车的共享业务,广州地区已经成功推出了首批产品,反响不错。

未来,樊飞表示将继续深耕固态储氢与小功率燃料电池领域,并积极拓展氢能无人机等新兴市场。樊飞说,还要积极寻求与国际氢能领域的合作与交流,将其产品及运营模式推广到海外市场。
