Recently, staff at the Xinfengjiang Forestry Administration of Guangdong Province recorded the first sighting of the rare Emerald Cuckoo at Jiuli Lake, a demonstration site in a provincial campaign to build a green and beautiful Guangdong. Known for its vibrant plumage and distinctive call, the Emerald Cuckoo is a rare bird. Additionally, the Blue-throated Bee-eater, often hailed as "China's most beautiful bird", has been spotted in large numbers in the Wanlv Lake area, where they have begun nesting and laying eggs, with several chicks successfully hatching.

The Emerald Cuckoo, a rare species typically found in tropical and subtropical forests, is primarily distributed in Yunnan, Sichuan, Hubei, Guizhou, Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Hainan Island in China. This bird is listed in the List of Terrestrial Wildlife with Important Ecological, Scientific and Social Values.

Chen Jianyun, a staff member of the Xinfengjiang Forestry Administration, discovered and photographed this rare bird during a routine patrol. This discovery has attracted numerous bird enthusiasts and photographers, injecting new vitality into the ecological protection and tourism development of the demonstration site.

Last year, photography enthusiasts also recorded the first sighting of the Blue-throated Bee-eater at Wanlv Lake in Heyuan. Known for its striking colors and graceful flight, the Blue-throated Bee-eater has drawn many visitors and photographers. Recently, staff from the Xinfengjiang Forestry Administration found that these birds have been nesting and laying eggs in large numbers around Wanlv Lake, with dozens of chicks 

In recent years, Heyuan has significantly increased efforts to protect the ecosystems and improve the environment of Wanlv Lake and Jiuli Lake. Measures such as afforestation, water quality monitoring, and biodiversity conservation have led to notable improvements in the local natural environment.

河源九里湖首次拍摄记录到罕见鸟类翠金鹃

近日，位于河源市的新丰江九里湖绿美广东生态建设示范点，新丰江林业管理局工作人员首次拍摄记录到罕见鸟类——翠金鹃，翠金鹃以其鲜艳的羽毛和独特的鸣叫声而闻名。另外，被誉为“中国最美小鸟”的蓝喉蜂虎也在万绿湖地区大量出现，并开始筑巢产卵，目前已有多只小鸟成功孵化。

记者了解到，翠金鹃是一种罕见的鸟类，常年生活在热带和亚热带地区的森林中，在中国主要分布于云南、四川、湖北、贵州、广东、香港和海南岛，该鸟类被列入《国家保护的有益的或者有重要经济、科学研究价值的陆生野生动物名录》。

新丰江林业管理局工作人员陈剑云介绍，自己在一次日常巡视中偶然发现了这种珍稀鸟类，并用相机拍摄记录。这一发现不仅吸引了众多鸟类爱好者和摄影师，也为该示范点的生态保护和旅游发展注入了新的活力。

另外，去年有摄影爱好者在河源万绿湖首次拍摄记录到的“中国最美小鸟”——蓝喉蜂虎，也在万绿湖附近大量出现。蓝喉蜂虎以其鲜艳的羽色和优雅的飞行姿态而闻名，吸引了大量游客和摄影师前来观赏。近期，新丰江林业管理局的工作人员发现蓝喉蜂虎在万绿湖区域内大量筑巢，并开始产卵，目前已有数十多只小鸟成功孵化。

据悉，近年来，河源市不断加大对万绿湖、九里湖生态保护和环境治理工作力度，通过植树造林、水质监测和生物多样性保护等多项措施，使得当地的自然环境得到了显著改善。
