On June 21st, the Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Statistics released the economic performance data for the first five months of the year.

Guangdong Province, a powerhouse of China's economy, has witnessed a strong economic rebound, underscoring its economic vitality and steady overall operation. Key indicators show that from January to May, the industrial added value above the designated size in Guangdong reached 1,578.061 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year increase of 6.5%. The total freight volume and turnover volume grew by 0.7% and 2.9% respectively year-on-year. The total retail sales of consumer goods amounted to 1,972.068 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 2.1%.

Stable growth in industrial production

The industrial added value above the designated size for the period January to May was 1,578.061 billion yuan, up by 6.5% year-on-year. In terms of sectors, the added value in mining increased by 3.8%, manufacturing by 6.5%, and the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, and water by 7.9%.

The industrial sectors in Guangdong have shown a broad-based expansion, with 69.2% of the major industrial categories experiencing growth. Notably, the consumer electronics market remains vibrant, with the manufacturing of computers, communication equipment, and other electronic devices growing by 18.8%.

High-tech product output has seen a remarkable increase, with the output of new energy vehicles, smartphones, integrated circuits, and industrial robots growing by 23.6%, 24.3%, 35.0%, and 38.8% respectively.

Steady operation in the transportation market

During the same period, the total freight volume and turnover volume grew by 0.7% and 2.9% year-on-year respectively. Civil aviation completed a significant increase in freight volume and turnover volume by 26.8% and 24.2% respectively. The port's cargo throughput volume increased by 5.9%. The passenger transport market continues to flourish, with the total passenger volume and turnover volume increasing by 15.9% and 27.1% respectively. High-speed rail and civil aviation have been particularly impressive, with respective increases of 16.7% and 12.0% in passenger volume, and 12.0% and 37.0% in turnover volume.

Continued rapid growth in industrial investment

From January to May, investment in the real economy of Guangdong continued to strengthen, with industrial investment growing by 16.6%. Investment in the manufacturing of computers, communication equipment, and other electronic devices increased by 31.1%, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing by 14.5%, and the automotive manufacturing industry by 12.2%.

Investments in new areas are growing quickly, with advanced manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing investments increasing by 21.0% and 30.2% respectively.

Steady growth in market sales

The total retail sales of consumer goods in Guangdong for the first five months was 1,972.068 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.1%.

By consumption type, retail sales of goods increased by 1.9%, while catering income grew by 3.3%. Retail sales of basic living commodities such as grain and food, beverages, and tobacco and alcohol saw significant growth, with year-on-year increases of 11.1%, 12.3%, and 4.7% respectively. The "trade-in" policy has stimulated the release of upgrade demand, with retail sales of home appliances and audio-visual equipment, sports and entertainment goods, cosmetics, and communication equipment growing by 4.6%, 16.7%, 10.1%, and 8.6% respectively. Online consumption continues to grow rapidly, with retail sales through public networks by units above the designated size in Guangdong increasing by 7.7% year-on-year.

广东前5月经济数据公布：规上工业增加值同比增长6.5%

6月21日，广东省统计局发布前5月经济运行数据。

主要指标显示：1—5月，全省规模以上工业增加值15780.61亿元，同比增长6.5%；全省货运量、货物周转量同比分别增长0.7%、2.9%；全省社会消费品零售总额19720.68亿元，同比增长2.1%。全省经济延续恢复态势，总体运行平稳。

工业生产稳定增长

1—5月，全省规模以上工业增加值15780.61亿元，同比增长6.5%。分门类看，采矿业增加值增长3.8%，制造业增长6.5%，电力、热力、燃气及水生产和供应业增长7.9%。

分行业看，全省在产工业行业大类增长面69.2%。重点行业中，消费电子市场保持火热，计算机、通信和其他电子设备制造业增长18.8%。

高技术产品产量快速增长，新能源汽车、智能手机、集成电路、工业机器人产量分别增长23.6%、24.3%、35.0%、38.8%。

交通运输市场运行平稳

1—5月，全省货运量、货物周转量同比分别增长0.7%、2.9%。其中，民航完成货运量、货物周转量增长26.8%、24.2%。港口货物吞吐量增长5.9%。客运市场保持较快增长，全省客运量、旅客周转量分别增长15.9%、27.1%，其中，高铁客运量和旅客周转量分别增长16.7%、12.0%，民航客运量和旅客周转量分别增长25.2%、37.0%。

工业投资持续快速增长

1—5月，全省实体经济投资持续发力，工业投资增长16.6%，其中，计算机、通信和其它电子设备制造业投资增长31.1%，电气机械和器材制造业投资增长14.5%，汽车制造业投资增长12.2%。

新领域投资增长较快，先进制造业和高技术制造业投资分别增长21.0%、30.2%。

市场销售平稳增长

1—5月，全省社会消费品零售总额19720.68亿元，同比增长2.1%。

按消费类型分，商品零售增长1.9%、餐饮收入增长3.3%。基本生活类商品零售增长较快，限额以上单位粮油、食品类，饮料类，烟酒类商品零售额分别增长11.1%、12.3%、4.7%；以旧换新政策带动升级需求释放，家用电器和音像器材类，体育、娱乐用品类，化妆品类，通信器材类分别增长4.6%、16.7%、10.1%、8.6%。线上消费保持较快增长，全省限额以上单位通过公共网络实现商品零售同比增长7.7%。
