On the evening of June 20th, the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) was brightly lit and filled with warmth as the Cultural and Art Exchange Gala celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia took place. The Qiaotou Lion Dance Team from Fuhai Street, Bao'an District, Shenzhen, the only invited performance team from Shenzhen, performed together with the lion dance team from Malaysia, marking the beginning of the ceremony.

At 8 PM local time, members of both teams stepped onto the stage to the beat of drums. Amidst the resounding drum music, nine majestic lions either swayed their heads and tails or leaped and moved gracefully. The ceremony was brimmed with a festive and harmonious atmosphere, symbolizing the warm friendship between the two countries.

"The team members are all in their fullest spirits to greet this performance," said Tan Zhanfei, coach of the Qiaotou Lion Dance Team. He expressed that it was a great honor for them to represent China at this grand event. Throughout the rehearsal, members from both countries engaged in deep exchanges regarding each other's lion dance techniques and traditions, such as creation and local styles. After numerous rehearsals, the cooperation between the two teams became increasingly seamless, and their friendship continued to strengthen. Following the rehearsals, the Fuhai Qiaotou Lion Dance Team was also invited to visit and exchange experiences with the Hong Teck Dragon and Lion Dance Selayang in Selangor, Malaysia.

On that day, the "Joint Statement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of Malaysia on Deepening and Upgrading the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Building a China-Malaysia Community of Shared Future" was released. The statement mentioned that both countries agreed to jointly apply for the inclusion of the "lion dance" project in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Taking this opportunity, the Qiaotou Lion Dance Team plans to further promote lion dance culture. They aim to innovate modern lion dance routines while preserving traditional techniques, ensuring that this excellent traditional culture comes alive, continues, and spreads globally.
