As one of the major intellectual properties in Chinese culture, the Loong has an incomparable position among Chinese people. Chinese people regard themselves as descendants of Loong.  It can be a symbol of supreme authority and imperial power , as in ancient China, only the emperor could wear Loong robes. It can be worshipped as a deity in folk beliefs, as there are templesforthe King of Loong across China where people pray for good weather as they believe that Loong governs waters and rainfall.

In the past, people tended to use the English word "dragon" to translate the Chinese Loong. However, Chinese Loong, appearsasa rather different image from the Western Dragon. 

Chinese Loong is a friendly and adorable figure symbolizing luck, happiness, success, and wealth.
