【大美广东】Xie Hua: A Master Who Never Forgets His Original Inspiration and Promotes Chaozhou Handmade Red-clay Teapot

Art and Culture | As the only #Chinese master of arts and crafts and the inheritor of the #Chaozhou handmade red clay #teapot craftsmanship, and the fifth-generation inheritor of the craft in his family business called Junhe, Xie Hua has been studying the Chaozhou handmade red clay teapot making for nearly 40 years. His works are combinations of classical and modern elements, as well as Chinese and foreign aesthetics. He believes that great truths are always simple. Making #handmade red clay teapots should start from the simplest and then move on to complicated parts, but at last, a #craftsman must return to the simplest part. He says that it takes more than #techniques to make good teapots, and the key lies in “what seems to have nothing to do with teapots”. He nourishes teapots with #philosophy and integrates the essential techniques of ancient #pottery, Chinese #bronze ware, Wadang from the Han Dynasty, and #Carving with the making of Chaozhou handmade red-clay teapots. #artandculture

潮州手拉朱泥壶制作行当里唯一的中国工艺美术大师、“俊合号”第五代传人谢华,在手拉壶制作方面已潜心研究了近40年。他善于把古典的、现代的、国内外的美学理念融入朱泥壶作品中。“大道至简。做壶,从最开始的简单,到后来的复杂,最后还是要回到简单。”谢华说,要做一把好壶,不能只靠技术,关键在于“壶外之功”。他以哲学滋养壶艺,并尝试着将古陶瓷、青铜器、汉朝瓦当、雕刻等中国传统文化精髓化为己用。
