China's GDP grew 5.2% to a new high of 126.06 trillion yuan (17.7 trillion U.S. dollars) in 2023. Its growth outpaces the estimated global rate of 3% and ranks top among major economies.

However, there has been a shift in the narrative on China in recent years: the previous decades’ positive drumbeat on its economy has been replaced by scepticism about its ability to deliver strong growth.

At 2024 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, Nicolas Aguzin, CEO of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) gave three reasons why we should take the long view on China.
