On May 28th, the final competition and award ceremony of the Greater Bay Area Youth "Global Understanding" Speech and Debate Competitions was held at the Talent Harbor in the Greater Bay Area. This annual event serves as a platform for youth exchange among the Greater Bay Area's outstanding young representatives from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau, showcasing their enthusiasm and vitality in engaging in dialogue and communication with the world through themed speeches and debates.

It is reported that the event was officially launched in September 2022 online and offline. More than 5,000 students from Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao, and other parts of China actively participated in the competition, with a total of 483 schools registered for the competition.

It is reported that the Greater Bay Area Youth Speech and Debate Competitions, along with the cultural exchange activities, have been held for four editions. The purpose of this event is to cultivate youth opinion leaders, establish a platform for youth communication, and enhance the international perspective and global understanding of young people in the Greater Bay Area. The education and cultural sectors in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao attach great importance to this competition and actively encourage the participation of students from Hong Kong and Macao. It is hoped that the event can serve as a bridge to promote interaction, communication, and integration among the youth in the Greater Bay Area.

Liang Yucheng, a student from Macao's Chan Sui Ki Perpetual Help College, expressed her gratitude to the organizers for organizing this high-quality event and providing a platform for exchange. She and her family, teachers, and classmates traveled from Macao to Guangzhou by high-speed rail to participate in the competition. At the same time, they were able to personally experience the rapid development of the Greater Bay Area, which has greatly benefited them.

Huo Qianqian, a student in Grade 8 atYew Chung International School of Hong Kong(Secondary), expressed that through this event, she gained a deeper understanding of China's contributions to promoting world peace and development. It also strengthened her cultural confidence, and she hopes to have the opportunity in the future to contribute to the development of the world.

The relevant personnel stated that outstanding participants in the competition can become ambassadors for international cultural exchange among young people in the Greater Bay Area and engage in activities such as cultural exploration and academic exchanges in the region. They can deepen their understanding of the country's future talent strategy through technology, culture, and other areas, broaden their horizons, enhance their global understanding, thus helping them tell the Chinese story from a youth's perspective.

In recent years, Yuexiu District has organized themed exchange activities such as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Visit to Beijing Road and the Greater Bay Area International Youth Centripetal China Theme Speaking Competition. These cultural experiences promote cooperation and exchange among the three regions and provide a broad and diverse space for the comprehensive development and healthy growth of youth in the Bay Area.

提升全球理解力，5000余名湾区青少年角逐思辨大奖

5月28日，2022-2023粤港澳大湾区青少年“全球理解力”演讲辩论总决赛暨颁奖典礼在粤港澳大湾区（广东）人才港举办。在这场一年一度的粤港澳青少年交流盛事中，来自粤港澳三地的优秀青少年代表通过主题演讲和辩论赛事，展现了大湾区青少年与世界对话交流的热情与活力。

据了解，本次活动于2022年9月正式启动，采用线上线下相结合的方式举行，共有5000余名来自粤港澳及全国各地的学生踊跃报名参与，共计483所学校参与大赛报名。

据悉，粤港澳大湾区青少年演讲辩论赛暨文化交流活动迄今已举办四届。本次活动旨在培养青少年意见领袖，搭建青少年交流平台，提升大湾区青少年的国际视野和全球理解力。粤港澳三地教育文化界对本次大赛高度重视，并鼓励港澳学生积极参与，希望将赛事作为桥梁促进粤港澳三地青少年交往交流交融。

来自澳门陈瑞祺永援中学的梁予澄同学表示，非常感谢主办方能够组织此次高质量的赛事和交流平台，她和家人老师以及一班同学从澳门坐高铁过来广州参赛的同时，还能亲身感受到大湾区的高速发展，让她们受益匪浅。

来自香港优才（杨殷有娣）书院就读中二的霍芊芊同学表示，通过此次活动，对中国在推动世界和平发展的贡献有了更多的了解，也更坚定了文化自信，希望自己未来也有机会能够为世界发展贡献力量。

相关负责人表示，大赛优秀选手可作为粤港澳大湾区青少年国际文化交流大使深入大湾区进行文化探索及研学交流等系列活动，“以科技、文化等作为切入点加深对国家未来人才战略的了解，进一步开阔眼界、提升全球理解力，以青少年视角讲好中国故事。”

据了解，近年来，越秀区举办粤港澳青年走进北京路广府文化之旅、粤港澳大湾区国际青少年“向心中国”演讲大赛等主题交流活动，以文化体验促进粤港澳三地合作交流，为湾区青少年的全面发展和健康成长提供了广阔多元的空间。
