The exchange event of Malaysian Chaozhou Natives' Cultural Week was staged in Chaozhou, Guangdong on the evening of May 26th. The event, which aimed to gather overseas Chinese hearts and wisdom, promote the high-quality development of Chaozhou's Xiangqiao District with drums as a medium and music to convey emotions. Wonderful performance includes the melodious song "Guo Fan Yao," the powerful and resonant 24 Solar Terms drums, and the exquisite and elegant kung fu tea ceremony performance.

The "big scene" of the entire event was undoubtedly the magnificent 24 Solar Terms drums. With the drum beats, the event started with the background of a period of history describing the Chaozhou people sailing to Southeast Asia for earning a living, leading the audience to experience the struggle of Chaozhou ancestors crossing the ocean, braving the wind and waves, and persisting in their efforts, which provided the audience with a fantastic audiovisual feast.

This cultural week event mainly focused on drum culture exchange between Chaozhou Chaoxiang Drum Commune and the Malaysian Beiyedrum team by Chaozhou youth, including drum art exchanges, visits to the Overseas Friendship Base in Chaozhou's Xiangqiao District, Xiangqiao's intangible cultural heritage experience and school exchanges.

As an important part of the Maritime Silk Road, Chaozhou City has a long-standing history of people venturing to Southeast Asia to make a living. With the migration of Chaozhou ancestors, Chaozhou culture has deeply rooted itself in Malaysian local culture, bringing diverse culture to the world. In 1988, the "24 Solar Terms Drum" was first created in the Malaysian Chinese community inspired by Chaozhou's large drum. Later in the same year, it was introduced back to China, quickly gaining resonance. Today, the 24 Solar Terms Drum has become a performance form that combines drum music, Chinese wisdom, and calligraphy art in the Chinese circles in Asia, as well as an inspiring symbol of Chinese culture.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road initiative by China. On one hand, Malaysia, as a country along the route, is participating in and witnessing China's transformation towards the world. On the other hand, Chaozhou, as the hometown of all Chaozhou people, is their "root" with its culture as the "soul" of Chaozhou people at home and abroad. Further, the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is also the "dream" of new cohorts of Chaozhou youth. On this basis, the event aimed to strengthen the sense of belonging and cultural identity of Chaozhou descendants to their hometown, and promote Chaozhou people at home and abroad to join hands in achieving convergence of interests.

以鼓为媒聚侨心，马来西亚潮人寻根之旅文化周交流活动在潮州启动

童声琅琅的《过番谣》、铿锵有力的二十四节令鼓、精致优雅的工夫茶道表演……5月26日晚，“潮心‘湘’印汇侨力 ‘湘’聚故里同筑梦——马来西亚潮人寻根之旅暨文化周交流活动晚会”在潮州精彩上演，以鼓为媒、以乐载情，广泛凝聚侨心、汇集侨智，助力潮州湘桥高质量发展。

整场晚会的“主角”，无疑是气势磅礴的二十四节令鼓。整场晚会以潮人下南洋的历史为背景，以二十四节令鼓为媒，带领观众感受潮人先辈漂洋过海、乘风破浪、生生不息的奋斗史，为观众带来了一场精彩绝伦的视听盛宴。

据介绍，本次文化周活动以潮州市潮嚮鼓社和马来西亚北野鼓团潮籍青年作鼓文化交流为主，通过组织鼓艺交流、参观湘桥区海外联谊基地、体验湘桥非遗文化、进校园交流等方式开展活动。

潮州是海上丝绸之路的重要节点，潮州人自古就有冒险下南洋谋生的传统。随着潮侨先人移民的步伐，潮文化也深深地植入了马来西亚本土文化中，丰富了人类世界多元化的色彩。1988年，受潮州大锣鼓启发，“廿四节令鼓”在马来西亚华人社群中首创，1998年，“廿四节令鼓”传回中国，很快得到共鸣。如今，廿四节令鼓在亚洲的华人世界，已成为一种结合鼓乐、中华智慧及书法艺术的演艺形式，更成为一种激励人心的中华文化符号。

今年是中国提出“一带一路”倡议十周年，马来西亚作为“一带一路”的沿线国家，正在参与、见证中国面貌走向世界。家乡潮州是海内外潮人的“根”，潮州文化是海内外潮人的“魂”，中华民族伟大复兴是海内外潮青新生代的“梦”。本次活动意在加强潮青后代对家乡的归属感与文化认同感，推动海内外潮人携手共画“同心圆”。
