City Life|During the 2026 National Day holiday, Guangdong’s cultural tourism scene remained vibrant, with more visitors seeking immersive experiences rooted in local traditions. On the sixth day of the holiday, major scenic attractions across the province welcomed 2.33 million visitors. Increasingly, tourists are traveling to Guangdong to experience lion dances, Yingge Dance performances and traditional handicrafts, bringing intangible cultural heritage (ICH) closer to everyday travel. Iconic cultural performances, including the lion dance at Foshan Ancestral Temple and Chaozhou Yingge Dance, attracted large crowds. The Guangdong Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum also hosted a range of interactive activities, including an ICH food market, stamp-collection challenges and live craft demonstrations. Across Lingnan, ICH experiences have become part of holiday journeys — from cultural performances at scenic spots and village workshops to outreach programmes bringing traditions such as lion dance, Yingge Dance, fish lanterns and fishermen’s chants to wider audiences. Meanwhile, rural and coastal tourism continued to gain popularity. The Nankun Mountain-Luofu Mountain area welcomed more than 800,000 visitors during the first six days of the holiday, while overnight stays on Zhuhai’s islands increased 11.3% year on year. From traditional festivals to natural landscapes, Guangdong offered visitors a holiday filled with culture, creativity and local charm.#citylife
