From September 13th to 18th, the Guangzhou International Friendship Art Troupe traveled to Nauru and Australia for a series of special performances. The visit was part of events commemorating the 40th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Guangzhou and Sydney.

On the evening of September 14th, a gentle breeze swept through the community square in Yaren District, Nauru, as melodious music filled the air. As a piece of Guangdong music "In Celebration of Good Times" rang out on the island, an overseas Chinese from Guangdong who had lived in Nauru for more than 20 years had tears in his eyes. "This is the sound of my hometown. I never expected to hear it here in Nauru."

An excerpt from the Cantonese opera "The Flower Princess" captivated the audience. The performers gracefully swept their long, flowing water sleeves as the crowd watched in rapt silence. Meanwhile, the acrobatic act "Butterflies in Dream" portrayed the graceful fluttering of butterflies through supple movements, drawing cheers and screams from the audience.

Since China and Nauru resumed diplomatic relations in March 2024, Chinese-aided projects, including a sports center and solar-powered streetlights, have been contributing to Nauru's development. Most members of the Chinese community in Nauru have ancestral roots in Guangdong, and Nauru's President Adeang has visited Guangdong twice to trace his roots and pay respects to his ancestors.

After concluding its visit to Nauru, the troupe flew to Sydney. On the afternoon of September 17th, the Guangzhou Cultural-Tourism Investment Promotion Conference was held in Sydney.

Guangzhou and Sydney established a sister-city relationship in 1986, making Sydney Guangzhou's fifth international sister city. Standing beside Sydney's Darling Harbour, the Chinese Garden of Friendship was jointly designed and built by the two cities. With its pavilions, winding bridges, and flowing waters, the garden showcases the distinctive charm of Lingnan culture and stands as a tangible testament to the friendship between the two cities.

广州国际友城文化艺术团赴瑙鲁、澳大利亚交流演出

9月13日至18日，广州国际友城文化艺术团远赴瑙鲁与澳大利亚，开展专场演出。此次出访是庆祝广州市与澳大利亚悉尼市缔结友好城市40周年的纪念活动。

9月14日傍晚，瑙鲁亚伦区社区广场上，椰风轻拂，乐声悠扬。当广东音乐《娱乐升平》的旋律在异国海岛响起，一位在瑙鲁生活了二十多年的广东籍华侨眼眶泛红：“这是我家乡的声音，没想到在瑙鲁也能听到。”

粤剧折子戏《帝女花》选段惊艳全场，演员水袖轻扬，台下观众屏息凝神；杂技《梦蝶》以柔韧身姿诠释蝴蝶翩跹，引得全场欢呼尖叫。

2024年3月中瑙复交以来，中国援建的体育中心、太阳能路灯等民生项目，改变着瑙鲁的发展面貌。大部分在瑙华侨华人祖籍地在广东，瑙鲁总统阿迪昂更曾两度赴粤寻根谒祖。

结束瑙鲁的行程，艺术团飞抵悉尼。9月17日下午，广州文旅招商推介会在悉尼举行。

1986年广州与悉尼缔结友好城市，悉尼成为广州第5个国际友城。悉尼达令港畔，由两市共同设计建造的谊园静立其间，亭台楼阁、曲桥流水，岭南风韵扑面而来，正是两市友谊最温润的实体见证。
