At noon on August 6th, the first day of the 16th China International Animation Copyright Fair, the booth of Winsing Animationwelcomed a group of visitors from afar. Deputy Consul of Argentinain Guangzhou Ana Baquerizaand several executives from Argentine animation companies showed keen interest in the Guangdong-produced animated film "Into the Mortal World" and hoped to bring it to the Argentine market.

The international participation at this year's expo is particularly notable. More than 2,200 quality IPs from around the world are represented at the event, while 98 companies are exhibiting with international IPs from more than 20 countries and regions, including the United States, France, Italy and Argentina—twice as many as last year.

Dongguan is home to more than 4,000 toy manufacturers, about 1,500 of which are capable of designing and manufacturing trendy toys. The city supplies one-quarter of the world's animation merchandise and 85% of its trendy toys.

Julia Nikolaeva, General Manager of Animotion Media Group, is attending the expo for the first time with a complete portfolio of more than 10 IP projects. "At Annecy in France, we focus more on content partnerships and distribution, while in Dongguan, we are more interested in finding partners for merchandise development and turning content and characters into physical products," she said.

A purchasing delegation from the Middle East showed strong interest in combining AI with trendy toys, while Southeast Asian chambers of commerce proactively sought licensing partnerships involving Lingnan intangible cultural heritageIPs.

As Argentine animators bring their characters to Dongguan in search of ways to turn them into physical products, Italian producers explore how Chinese original stories can reach global audiences, and Middle Eastern buyers make AI-powered trendy toys a key focus of their visit, China's animation and trendy toy industry is moving up the global value chain, shifting from a focus on manufacturing toward a model that combines creativity with manufacturing.
