一根金黄绣线从潮汕老宅的绣台上滚落，穿过市井烟火、地铁人潮，越过万里碧空，轻轻停在纽约公寓的地板上。孙女拾起故土丝线，问出那个所有观众都想知道的问题：“奶奶，你绣的龙凤为什么是凸起来的？”让龙凤“凸起来”的奥秘，正是潮绣独有的垫高立体绣法：以棉絮、纸丁垫高图案造型，再刺绣金银线，使绣面物象浮雕般立体饱满，产生“平、浮、凸、活”的艺术效果。
