On July 8th, the 2026 "Million Talents, Innovation in Guangzhou—100 Overseas Chinese PhDs Visit Guangzhou" event officially commenced. A total of 100 early- and mid-career overseas Chinese PhD holders from five continents gathered in Guangzhou to gain firsthand knowledge of the city's cutting-edge industrial development, introduce their own projects to national-level competitions based on their areas of expertise, and promote project exchanges and implementation.

On the afternoon of July 8th, the delegation followed three themed routes focusing on new energy and new materials, biomedicine, and artificial intelligence, gaining firsthand insights into Guangzhou's dynamic development.

"I hope to hold face-to-face exchanges and matching sessions with enterprise practitioners on practical issues in biomedicine, so as to adjust and optimize my future research directions," said Lu Yubin. He earned his PhD from Huazhong University of Science and Technologyand has been a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the Illinois Institute of Technologysince 2022. He gained abundant insights after visiting the exhibition hall of Guangzhou International Bio Island, KingMed Diagnostics, and the National University Biomedical Regional Technology Transfer and Transformation Center(Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area).

Lu noted that Guangzhou provides comprehensive and effective support for technology start-ups, with a full-chain policy framework covering research and development, employment and entrepreneurship for scientific talent, as well as housing and daily living. Looking ahead, he said he would focus on promoting the application of mathematics to AI-driven drug discovery to accelerate innovation in the biomedicine sector.

"I have witnessed numerous successful cases in Guangzhou that turn conceptual ideas into marketable products, backed by a complete support system linking industry, academia and research," said Wang Rui, a PhD holder from the University of Hong Kong. He stated that Guangzhou servesas fertile ground for both scientific and technological innovation and tech entrepreneurship.

百名海外侨博士走进广州

7月8日，2026“百万英才 创在广州——100名海外侨博士广州行”活动启幕。来自世界五大洲的100位海外中青年侨博士齐聚羊城，实地了解广州前沿产业发展情况，结合自身专业，引入项目参加国家级赛事，并推动项目交流与落地。

8日下午，侨博士考察团通过新能源新材料、生物医药、人工智能三条不同路线开展调研，在行走中感受广州发展脉动。

“我希望同企业人士就生物医药领域的实际问题，面对面开展交流对接，以调整优化今后的科研方向。”博士毕业于华中科技大学，2022年起在伊利诺伊理工大学应用数学系任博士后的卢裕滨，走访广州国际生物岛展厅、金域医学、全国高校生物医药区域技术转移转化中心（粤港澳大湾区）后收获良多。

卢裕滨说，广州对初创期科技型企业的支持全面而有力，在研发人才就业创业、居住生活等方面出台了一系列全链条政策。今后，他将致力于推动数学在AI制药赛道的运用，赋能生物医药行业加速创新。

“如何从‘概念’转化为‘产品’，我在广州看到了很多成功例子，背后是贯通产学研链条的整套支持体系。”香港大学博士王瑞表示，广州是科技创新的沃土，也是科技创业的沃土。
