The Guangdong Provincial Conference on Mangrove Afforestation and Restoration Work during the 14th Five-Year Plan Period and the Blue Carbon Symposium were held in Zhanjiang on July 7th. It was announced at the conference that, as of the end of May 2026, Guangdong had completed 5,506.79 hectares of mangrove afforestation and 2,688.94 hectares of mangrove restoration, totaling 8,195.73 hectares. The province has exceeded the 8,000-hectare target assigned by the state, with its total mangrove afforestation and restoration area ranking first nationwide.

Guangdong has the largest mangrove area in China, accounting for around 40% of the country's total. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the province undertook 60% of China's new mangrove afforestation tasks.

Huizhou was the first city in Guangdong to complete and exceed its mangrove afforestation and restoration targets for the 14th Five-Year Plan period ahead of schedule. The city has planted 301.29 hectares of mangroves and restored 112.81 hectares.

Zhanjiang, which has the largest mangrove area of any city in Guangdong, has planted 2,822.04 hectares of mangroves and restored 1,382.61 hectares, both ranking first in the province.

Shenzhen has been a pioneer in blue carbon innovation. It has planted 19.19 hectares of mangroves and restored 103.09 hectares, exceeding its assigned targets. The city also led the release of China's first Methodology for Mangrove Conservation Carbon Sink Projects and completed China's highest-priced mangrove conservation carbon credit transaction, at 485 yuan per tonne.

全国新营造红树林六成在粤

7月7日，广东省“十四五”红树林营造修复工作总结大会暨蓝碳交流研讨会在湛江召开。记者从会上获悉，截至2026年5月底，全省累计完成红树林营造5506.79公顷、修复2688.94公顷，合计8195.73公顷，超额完成国家下达的8000公顷目标任务，营造修复面积总量居全国首位。

据介绍，广东是全国红树林面积分布最广的区域，面积约占全国40%。在“十四五”时期，广东承担了全国新营造红树林60%的任务。

惠州是全省首个提前超额完成“十四五”营造修复任务的地市，累计营造红树林301.29公顷、修复红树林112.81公顷。

作为全省红树林分布面积最大的地市，湛江累计营造红树林2822.04公顷、修复红树林1382.61公顷，面积均居全省首位。

深圳是蓝碳创新的“先行者”，累计营造红树林19.19公顷、修复红树林103.09公顷，超额完成任务。率先发布全国首个红树林保护碳汇方法学，落地全国最高单价红树林保护碳汇交易（485元/吨）。
