The 2026 Chebei Dragon Boat Race kicked off at Chebei River in Tianhe District, Guangzhou, on June 13th. Known as the "Mini Guangzhou Dragon Boat Race," the Chebei event offers both fierce competition and great visual spectacle. This year, the Chebei Village Traditional Dragon Boat Association had 12 dragon boats competing. Founded in the Tang Dynasty and flourishing in the late Song and early Yuan Dynasties, Chebei Village has kept its dragon boat racing tradition alive to this day, making it a true emblem of Cantonese dragon boat culture.
The race was held on the section of the Chebei River between Longxi Bridge and Shamei Bridge. It consisted of preliminaries, finals, and ranking races. Once the race began, teams paddled in their designated lanes toward the turnaround point at Shamei Bridge, where they picked up a flag and turned the boat around before heading back to the starting point. The finish was marked by the dragon boat's bow crossing the line.
After the competition, the Maishixing Dragon Boat Association won the championship with a time of 1 minute and 45.087 seconds. The Chebei Wugong Su Dragon Boat Association finished second with a time of 1 minute and 45.577 seconds, narrowly losing by just half a second. The Chebei Gaodi Su Dragon Boat Association and the Chebei Fanyang Jian Dragon Boat Association tied for third place.
After the race, a dragon boat parade took place, and the previously tense atmosphere quickly gave way to cheerful laughter. The dragon boat race transformed into a "water-splashing festival", as team members and local villagers bonded over playful water fights, creating a warm and harmonious Dragon Boat Festival atmosphere.
Following this, a grand dragon boat feast was held at the ancestral halls of Chebei Village. "Every year after the race, we put on a large banquet, and each dish carries a special meaning," said Li Mingbin, a member of the Chebei Jiangtou Li Dragon Boat Association and head of the 13th community of Chebei. "The dragon boat race embodies the never-give-up spirit and the will to fight that have been passed down through generations."
2026车陂端午龙舟盛会举办
6月13日，2026车陂端午龙舟盛会在广州天河车陂涌启幕。素有“小广州赛”美誉的车陂龙舟赛，兼具竞技性与观赏性。今年，车陂村传统龙船会派出12只龙船参赛。始建于唐朝、兴于宋末元初的车陂村，其传承至今的“扒龙舟”项目是广府龙舟文化的典型代表。
本次赛事地点为车陂涌龙溪桥至沙美桥之间河段，共分初赛、决赛和排位赛两轮。开始比赛后，参赛队伍按各自赛道行驶，划至沙美桥折返点取旗回龙，返回到起点，以龙船龙头冲线为准。
经过比拼，麦始兴龙船会以1分45秒087的成绩取得冠军。武功苏龙船会成绩为1分45秒577，仅以半秒之差惜败，获得亚军。高地苏龙船会、范阳简龙船会并列第三名。
赛后，现场举行游龙仪式，原本紧张的比赛氛围瞬间被轻松愉快的笑声充斥，龙舟赛变成“泼水节”，各队伍运动员与村民观众通过“打水仗”加深情谊，营造了温情和谐的端午氛围。
而后，车陂村各宗祠举办龙舟饭盛宴。“每年龙舟赛后，我们都大摆宴席，每道菜都有着特殊的意义。”江头黎龙船会成员、车陂十三社社长黎铭彬表示，“龙舟比赛展现了一代代传承下来的拼搏精神，不服输精神。”
