"I wrote qiaopi (remittance letters) back when I was a kid!" "When the movie is released in Malaysia, I'll bring my daughter and grandchildren to watch it, so they can learn about this history."

From June 11 to 13, during the APEC Economies China Studies Scholars Forum in Guangzhou, several scholars and experts from APEC economies watched China's recent hit movie Dear You. The scenes about traveling to Nanyang (Southeast Asia) and sending qiaopi struck a deep chord — many of them had once written qiaopi and sent supplies to their own families far away in China.

“我小时候就写过侨批！”“等马来西亚上映，我要让女儿、孙子孙女都去看，了解这段历史。”6月11日至13日，APEC经济体中国问题研究专家论坛  在广州举行期间，多名来自APEC经济体的学者专家共同观看《给阿嬷的情书》，其中关于下南洋、寄侨批的情节引发共鸣，因为他们就曾经给远在中国的家人写过侨批、寄过物资。
