Guangdong-made AI robots join Beijing's Temple Fair to sell Palace Museum merchandise

From February 17th to 23rd, the 2026 Dadu New Year Temple Fair is being held at the China National Convention Center Phase II, highlighting a blend of technological vibes, global appeal, and traditional Chinese culture. Beijing Palace Museum Cultural Communication Co., Ltd. brought its new employees—AI robots from Shenzhen—to the fair, creating a mobile, smart cultural experience space.

At the venue, one robot takes on the role of an "AI shopkeeper," autonomously handling voice interactions, order processing and payment collection, as well as the picking and delivery of products, while selling cultural and creative items from the Palace Museum. Another robot, serving as an "AI fortune ambassador," entertains visitors through games and friendly competitions, boosting the sense of fun and engagement. "This is the first time I've seen a robot selling cultural products," said Ms. Li, a local visitor. "It sounds like a real shopkeeper when it talks, and it moves quite swiftly. I couldn't help but stop and watch."

Characterized by high crowd density, frequent interactions, and intense operations, the temple fair poses a challenge that Stardust Intelligence's cable-driven Astribot S1 effectively meets. Its continuous operation during peak hours significantly alleviates the pressure on manual services, enhancing on-site stability and maintaining crowd order.

This innovative technological experience integrates traditional culture into the city's Chinese New Year celebrations and people's modern lives in a more relatable, vibrant, and future-oriented manner. The presence of AI robots at the temple fair not only offers a novel yet intimate experience but also provides a tangible and replicable model for smart city development and the integration of culture and technology. Blending into public cultural life in a gentler, more down-to-earth way, these robots are becoming a part of the city's Chinese New Year memories.
