Guangzhou, renowned as "China's top express delivery city," handles over 60 million parcels daily, with an average of 42,000 parcels processed every minute. In 2025, Guangzhou's parcel volume reached 21.898 billion pieces, 1.82 times that of Shenzhen, 1.9 times that of Shanghai, and 2.6 times that of Beijing, ranking first nationwide in handling volume.

In terms of express delivery revenue, Shanghai leads, followed by Guangzhou and Shenzhen, giving Guangdong two of the top three spots. The province also claims four places among China's top ten cities by express delivery volume: Guangzhou (first), Shenzhen (third), Dongguan (fifth), and Jieyang (tenth). Their annual handling volumes stand at 21.898 billion parcels, 12.017 billion parcels, 8.622 billion parcels, and 6.796 billion parcels respectively, underscoring Guangdong's strong competitiveness in the express delivery sector.

The impressive express delivery data is underpinned by the distinct advantages of Guangdong's cities. As the provincial capital and a hub for international trade and cross-border e-commerce, Guangzhou benefits from a large population and concentrated commercial resources. Dongguan, known as the "world's factory," boasts a robust manufacturing and foreign trade sector. Meanwhile, although Jieyang's overall economic output is not particularly prominent, it possesses a well-established e-commerce ecosystem. Together, these cities form the backbone of Guangdong's massive express delivery volume.
The vigorous growth of Guangdong's express delivery industry is rooted in its strong manufacturing foundation. Guangdong's manufacturing value-added output accounts for over one-eighth of the national total, and its comprehensive industrial system directly translates into advantages for the express delivery sector. Dongguan handles an average of 8.622 billion express parcels annually, with over 270 parcels dispatched every second, predominantly consisting of Guangdong-made products.
Relying on its specialty industries such as toys, hardware, and plastic products, Jieyang has deeply integrated e-commerce into its local economy, spurring the growth of a large number of small and medium-sized e-commerce merchants. It has established 38 "Taobao Towns" and 181 "Taobao Villages" with e-commerce reaching every corner of the region. This industry-led approach has blazed a new trail for its express delivery sector, making the slogan "Guangdong Goods Global Reach" a living reality.
