"Train G9785 is about to depart." At 10:30 AM on December 22nd, 2025, the high-speed train pulled out and began its journey, marking the official launch of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway (Guang-Zhan HSR). The vision of "having morning yum cha in Guangzhouand seafood lunch in Zhanjiang" has now become a reality.

Spanning approximately 401 kilometers with a designed speed of 350 km/h, this major transportation artery starts in Guangzhou, runs through the cities of Foshan, Zhaoqing, Yunfu, Yangjiang, Maoming, and finally reaches Zhanjiang. By allowing trains to race along at high speed, the line compresses journey time between western Guangdong and the corearea of the Pearl River Delta to less than two hours, dramatically shrinking the time-space distance between these key areas.

The commissioning of the Guang-Zhan HSR, together with the already operational Guangzhou-Shanwei High-Speed Railway and the Shantou-Shanwei High-Speed Railway which also achieved full-line operation on the same day, has formed a continuous 350 km/h high-speed corridor along Guangdong's coast.

Looking out the train window, passengers saw the farmland, towns, and villages of the Lingnan region flash by. "Look, we're passing through the Zhanjiang Bay undersea tunnel!" an excited traveler exclaimed as the train approached Zhanjiang. This 9,640-meter tunnel is the longest large-diameter blind heading undersea tunnel in China and a key engineering highlight of the Guang-Zhan HSR. Its construction overcame world-class challenges including complex seabed geology and high water pressure.

“G9785次列车准备发车！”2025年12月22日10时30分，列车启动开出。这标志着，广湛高铁正式开通运营！这让“早上在广州叹早茶，中午在湛江吃海鲜”成为现实。

这条设计时速350公里、正线全长约401公里的交通大动脉，始于广州，途经佛山、肇庆、云浮、阳江、茂名等市，终至湛江。粤西与珠三角核心区之间通过高铁飞驰，将两地时空距离压缩至短短两小时以内。

广湛高铁的开通，与已投入运营的广汕高铁，以及同日全线贯通的汕汕高铁，共同在广东沿海串联起一条时速350公里高速通道。

列车窗外，岭南田园、城镇乡村飞速掠过。“快看，我们正在穿越湛江湾海底隧道！”列车行进到湛江时，有旅客兴奋地指向窗外。这条全长9640米的隧道，是我国独头掘进距离最长的大直径海底隧道，也是广湛高铁的重点工程，克服了海底复杂地质、高水压等世界级难题。
