On December 2nd, during the 2025 Understanding China Conference (Guangzhou), Hassan Wirajuda, former Foreign Minister of Indonesia, gave an exclusive interview to Yangcheng Evening News, discussing topics including Sino-foreign exchanges, APEC cooperation, and Guangdong's urban-rural development. Notably, he expressed his approval of the achievements of the High-quality Development Project for Guangdong Counties, Towns and Villages.

Hassan argued that, despite China's important role on the global stage, many Indonesians still lack sufficient understanding of it, and there is a shortage of China specialists among Indonesian scholars. He said both sides should strengthen mutual learning, so that Indonesian students can learn about China through China-based resources and deepen their understanding of the historical ties between China and Indonesia, thereby reducing reliance on Western textbooks.

Regarding the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting scheduled for Shenzhen in 2026, Hassan expressed hope that, as host, China will reaffirm APEC's original mission of facilitating trade and investment across the Asia-Pacific region, promote a more open Asia-Pacific economic and trade environment, resist trade protectionism, align with China's own opening-up policy, and help reverse the restrictions on investment flows caused by unilateral tariffs.

Speaking of the High-quality Development Project for Guangdong Counties, Towns and Villages, Hassan praised Guangdong's success in narrowing the urban-rural development gap. He said that a major country often faces urban-rural development disparities. China, through reform and opening-up, has achieved rapid economic growth and large-scale poverty alleviation. Guangdong's steady and coordinated development efforts have significantly narrowed the income gap between urban and rural residents, which is a remarkable achievement.

印尼前外长点赞广东“百千万工程”｜2025“读懂中国”

12月2日，2025年“读懂中国”国际会议（广州）期间，印度尼西亚前外长哈桑·维拉尤达接受羊城晚报专访，谈及中外交流、APEC合作及广东城乡发展等话题，对广东“百千万工程”成果予以肯定。

哈桑认为，中国作为世界重要角色，印尼各界对其了解仍显不足，学术领域中国问题专家稀缺，双方需加强人员互学，让学生通过中国本土资源认知中国，同时深化中印尼历史关系理解，减少对欧美教材的依赖。

对于2026年在深圳举办的APEC第三十三次领导人非正式会议，哈桑期待中国以东道主身份重申APEC促进环太平洋贸易投资便利化的初心，推动构建更开放的亚太经贸环境，抵制贸易保护主义，契合中国自身开放政策导向，扭转单边关税带来的投资流动限制问题。

谈及广东“百县千镇万村高质量发展工程”，哈桑点赞广东缩小城乡发展差距的成效。他表示，大国普遍存在城乡发展落差，中国通过改革开放实现经济快速增长、大幅减贫，广东扎实推进协调发展工作，显著缩小城乡居民收入差距，成果值得肯定。
