Guangdong sees record participation at 12th NGD and 9th NSOG

The highly anticipated 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG) will take place from December 8th to December 15th across Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. According to information obtained by the reporter, the Guangdong delegation will make 1,199 total participations across 46 sports and 689 events.

Guangdong will field the largest delegation in the competitive events of this year's NGD and NSOG, with a total of 802 members. These comprise 561 athletes, 52 delegation officials and 189 team officials made up of team leaders, coaches and support staff.

The athletes come from 21 cities across Guangdong Province, including 300 men, 207 women and 54 competition support personnel. They will compete in all 26 sports and 532 events across the Summer and Winter Paralympics and Deaflympics competitions at the 12th NGD, marking record-high numbers in both participants and events entered.

The delegation's athletes have an average age of 32.23. They include 17 Paralympic champions, 335 athletes with physical disabilities (including 188 wheelchair athletes), 93 athletes with visual impairments and 79 athletes with hearing impairments. A total of 394 athletes, accounting for 70.23%, will be competing at the NGD for the first time, while 167 athletes have participated in two or more editions. Notably, 13 athletes have represented Guangdong in six editions of the NGD.

Among the Guangdong delegation, the oldest athlete is 63-year-old table tennis veteran Huang Liming, while the youngest is wheelchair fencer Zhong Yingjie, who will celebrate his 14th birthday during the competition.

Among the competing athletes, 235 were born after 2000 and 112 were born after 2005, accounting for 41.9% and 20% of all athletes, respectively. In addition, Guangdong will send 347 participants, including athletes, team leaders and coaches, to the finals of all 20 sports and 157 events in the mass participation and Special Olympics categories at this year's NGD and NSOG. Among them, 248 are athletes, another record-high figure for the province.

残特奥会广东参赛人数创历史新高,“00后”运动员有235人

备受瞩目的全国第十二届残疾人运动会暨第九届特殊奥林匹克运动会将于12月8日至12月15日在粤港澳三地举办。记者了解到,本届残特奥会,广东省代表团共1199人次参加46个大项689个小项的比赛。

广东省代表团是本届全国残特奥会竞体项目参赛规模最大的代表团,总规模达802人,包括运动员561人、团部官员52人、运动队官员(领队、教练员、工作人员)189人。

代表团运动员来自全省21个地市,其中男运动员300人、女运动员207人、竞赛辅助人员54人,将参加全国第十二届残运会夏季和冬季残奥、聋奥项目全部26个大项532个小项的角逐,参赛人数和项数均创历史新高。

代表团运动员平均年龄32.23岁,包括17名残奥会冠军、335名肢体障碍运动员(含188名轮椅运动员)、93名视力障碍运动员、79名听力障碍运动员。其中有394名运动员为首次参加全国残运会,占比为70.23%,有167名运动员参加过两届及以上全国残运会,有13名运动员代表广东征战过六届全国残运会。

广东省代表团运动员中年龄最大的是乒乓球项目63岁老将黄丽明,年龄最小的是轮椅击剑项目小将钟英杰,他将在正赛期间迎来14岁生日。

参赛运动员中“00后”运动员235人,“05”后运动员112人,分别占运动员总数的41.9%、20%。此外,广东省还有347名运动员、领队、教练等参加本届残特奥会大众和特奥项目全部20个大项、157个小项的决赛,其中参赛运动员248人,参赛人数同样创造历史新高。
