In November this year, the "Bright Journey" team from the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat‑sen University arrived in Suva, Fiji, bringing health and hope to local residents. Many people came to the hospital early in the morning upon hearing of the Chinese medical team's arrival, while patients who received surgery said they saw in the doctors both medical benevolence and the radiance of humanity.

In fact, the team from the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center has been engaged in overseas medical aid missions for many years. In 2024, a medical aid team from the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center traveled to Nauru to carry out the "Bright Journey" campaign under the framework of South Pacific Medical Aid. Given the limited medical infrastructure and the absence of a specialized eye hospital, many patients had long suffered from eye diseases without timely treatment.

One such patient was Vinson, a Nauruan suffering from cataracts who weighed nearly 100 kilograms and had difficulty moving. When the Chinese team arrived in Nauru, they provided free eye examinations and performed cataract surgery, helping him regain his health and once again embrace a life of light.

今年11月份，中山大学中山眼科中心“光明行”团队来到了斐济苏瓦，为当地百姓带来了健康和希望。在当地，不少居民听闻这支中国医疗团队的到来，清晨便来医院排队；更有接受了手术的患者表示，在医生身上，看到了医者仁心与人文的光辉。

事实上，中山眼科团队已经坚持赴外医援工作多年。2024年，来自中山大学中山眼科中心的援外医疗团队来到瑙鲁，开展“光明行”医疗行动。由于瑙鲁基础医疗条件有限，更没有专门的眼科医院，众多民众身患眼疾却没有得到及时的医治。

瑙鲁患者Vinson便是其中一名白内障患者，体重近200斤，行动不便。中山眼科团队来到瑙鲁后，为其开展义诊筛查与白内障手术，帮助他恢复健康，重新拥抱光明人生。
