On the evening of November 12th, in the Men's 200m Freestyle Final at the 15th National Games, 18-year-old Zhang Zhanshuo shattered his own national youth record with a time of 1:44.86 and claimed the gold. Two days earlier, he had already taken gold in the Men's 400m Freestyle Final andset the world junior record, thereby achieving a golden double triumph. This young "post-2000s" swimmer's stunning performance not only highlights his individual strength, but also signals the opening of a new era of collective rise for China's swimming arena.

On the women's side, 13-year-old Yu Zidi broke the 13-year-old Asian and national record previously held by Ye Shiwen at the London 2012 Olympic Games, while 23-year-old Li Bingjie stayed atop the champion's throne. In the relay events, several teams dominated by "post-2000s" swimmers rewrote records and demonstrated formidable team-combat capability. These young swimmers form a well-stocked talent pipeline across all events, building a solid developmental tier for China's swimming world.

Moments of warm-hearted crossover between veteran and youth made this generational hand-off all the more inspiring. In the Men's 400m Freestyle Final, 34-year-old veteran Sun Yang competed alongside the "post-2000s" generation and finished sixth; afterwards he offered his blessings to the younger athletes, noting that "swimming is a commitment passed down from one generation to the next." After achieving the victory, Zhang Zhanshuo remained humble throughout, saying, "I still need to learn a lot from my predecessors," yet he also asserted with resolve, "I want to be my own hero and carve out a path that belongs to me." That blend of modesty and sharp ambition is precisely a hallmark of the "post-2000s" generation.
