Major progress achieved on Xiangshan Bridge, with China's largest span and widest deck

On August 22nd, with the installation of the 25th stay cable, the Xiangshan Bridge—a double-deck steel truss cable-stayed bridge with the largest span and widest deck in China—marked a significant milestone. The number of stay cables on the south main bridge exceeded 100, with 82% of the total cables for both the north and south main bridges now in place.

As a key project of the Zhongshan East Outer Ring Expressway, the Xiangshan Bridge is funded by Poly Changda Engineering Co., Ltd. Spanning 1,776 meters with a main span of 880 meters and a tower height of 270 meters, the bridge features a double-deck designed for two-way eight-lane traffic. The stay cables, which serve as the "lifelines" of the bridge, consist of 240 cables (60 pairs). The longest single cable measures approximately 477 meters and weighs up to 74.5 tons. These cables are made of high-strength zinc-aluminum alloy-coated steel wires with a diameter of 7 mm and a tensile strength of 1,860 MPa, transferring the weight of the immense steel truss girder to the main tower.

Currently, the construction is progressing smoothly. In addition to the 82% completion of stay cable installation, 73 steel truss sections have been lifted into place, accounting for 92% of the total planned installations. The project is now entering its final phase, with efforts focused on completing the bridge and achieving full closure.

Once completed, the Zhongshan East Outer Ring Expressway will connect to the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, forming a "one ring, three horizontal and three vertical" expressway network together with the Nanzhong Expressway and Zhongkai Expressway. This will enhance transportation connectivity within the Greater Bay Area and serve as a vivid example of the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

湾区这座“国内跨径最大、桥面最宽”大桥上新

8月22日,随着第25号斜拉索安装完成,国内跨径最大、桥面最宽的公路用双层钢桁架斜拉桥——中山东环香山大桥迎来重要进展,南主桥斜拉索安装数量突破100根,南、北主桥斜拉索整体完成安装总量的82%。

香山大桥是中山东部外环高速公路控制性工程,由保利长大建设投资,全长1776米,主跨880米,塔高270米,采用上下双层、双向八车道设计。斜拉索是桥梁“生命线”,全桥共240根(60对),单根最长约477米、最重74.5吨,由1860MPa抗拉强度的7毫米直径高强度锌铝合金镀层钢丝制成,可将万吨钢桁梁重力传递至主塔。

目前,大桥建设进展顺利,除斜拉索安装完成82%外,钢桁梁吊装已完成73片,占总量92%,整体进入最后冲刺阶段,全力推进合龙。

中山东环项目建成后,将连接深中通道,与南中高速、中开高速等构成“一环三横三纵”高速网络,提升大湾区交通互联水平,成为粤港澳大湾区高质量发展的生动注脚。
