At 12:00 noon on August 16th, the 2025 summer fishing moratorium will officially come to an end. After more than three months, a variety of fresh seafood delicacies will make a strong return. In preparation for the opening of the fishing season, fishermen in Yangjiang are working intensively to get everything ready.

As the start date draws near, fishing ports along Yangjiang's coastal towns—quiet for over three months—are once again bustling with activity. Under the blazing sun, fishermen move between the docks and vessels, carefully sorting fishing gearor loading fishing supplies. The roar of boat engines mingles with the work song by dock workers, creating a spirited overture to the fishing season.
"It's crucial to keep the catch fresh once it's brought on board, so we've got plenty of ice ready. Daily necessities such as rice, flour and oil will also be loaded in the next couple of days," said Chen, a fisherman busy loading fishing nets and gear. He added that before the fishing season starts, he will give the boat a final inspection and tune-up, ready to head to sea in top condition.
