The currently popular movie, "Chang An", has once again made famous poet Li Bai, the first "travel blogger" of the Tang Dynasty, a top-tier celebrity. So, did Li Bai, who loved to travel to famous mountains throughout his life, ever visit Guangdong, which is known for its many scenic mountains? Regrettably, he did not. However, there is a small alley near Beijing Road in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, named after Li Bai.
Originally named Alley of the Li Clan, it was once the settlement of the Li clan from Xinhui in Guangzhou. However, to avoid confusion, this common name was changed to Li Bai Alley in 1931. Today, Li Bai Alley still exudes a strong cultural atmosphere, with Li Bai's poems inscribed on the walls. There is a young man dressed in ancient clothes, portraying Li Bai, adding to the cultural and lively atmosphere of the alley.
People in Guangdong have a strong fondness for Li Bai, and in return, Li Bai loved Guangdong too. In his writings, Mount Luofu has always been his "dream mountain". If he had the chance to relive his life, Li Bai might also choose, like his counterpart Su Shi from the Song Dynasty, to "gladly become a Lingnan person the rest of life".
