Mr. Yang Qi, the former editor-In-chief of your newspaper, is a close friend of mine, so I have no reason to turn down your invitation..." From Louis Cha's handwritIng, we know that this letter is an authorization letter to allow Yangcheng Evening News to serialize his famous work "Sword Stained with Royal Blood". Mr. Yang Qi, mentioned Inthe letter, is the founder of Yangcheng Evening News. The two gentlemen, acquainted with each other as newspapermen, admired and influenced each other with a deep friendship that lasted for decades.

众所周知,金庸除了是一代武侠巨匠,还是一位著名报人。他最初涉足武侠江湖,便属醉翁之意不在酒,旨在借武侠以兴报纸。在数十年的办报生涯中,金庸与内地诸多报社来往密切,其中结缘最深的当属《羊城晚报》。
在羊城晚报社采编大楼,隐藏着一家独具特色的博物馆——岭南报业博物馆。馆内不仅记录着岭南数十年来的报业风云,而且珍藏着众多报业前辈的手泽遗墨。徜徉其中,游客必定会在一封信前驻足观赏。这封信的落款是金庸,收信人则是羊城晚报港澳海外版编辑室。
“敬启者,贵版拟连载拙作《碧血剑》,盛意至感。贵报前总编辑杨奇先生是我知交好友,自无不从之理……”从金庸古拙质朴的字迹中可知,这封信是答允《羊城晚报》连载《碧血剑》的授权信。信中提到的杨奇先生,乃是《羊城晚报》创办人。两位先生以报相交,彼此钦佩、互相影响,建立了持续数十载的深厚友谊。
在这封信中,金庸还以《明报》创办人的身份,肯定了《羊城晚报》“风格新颖,编排精彩”“为全国晚报中销数第一”。此信简短而精赅,寥寥数百字,尽显珍视友谊、敬重同行之意。除了《碧血剑》,金庸的《飞狐外传》也曾在《羊城晚报》连载,可见先生与《羊城晚报》结缘之深。
