"This journey may have been short, but it helped me find my own cultural roots. No matter where we are, the light of Chinese culture will always illuminate our path home." At the closing ceremony of the "China Roots-seeking Tour", Wang Jiacheng, a student from the "Escuela de Cultura China Dufu, España"(Du Fu Chinese Culture Schoolin Spain), spoke with heartfelt sincerity, drawing rounds of warm applause from the audience.
From July 9th to 16th, the 2025 "Family Affection for China • Chinese Root-Seeking Tour" took place in Shantou, a well-known hometown of overseas Chinese. Over 100 young people of Chinese descent from countries such as Spainand the United States embarked on a fascinating journey to explore Chinese culture and the charm of the Chaoshan area.

They visited China's toy capital Chenghai District, Shantou, for a journey of technological exploration, including interacting with robotic dogsand watching robots perform the traditional Yingge Dance. As night fell, everyone gathered at the brightly lit Laoma Palace Theaterto enjoy the performance of Chao Opera, experiencing the depth and breadth of traditional Chinese opera art. At the green field of Shantou No. 4 Middle School, a friendly football match between China and Spain kicked off, with both sides playing with passion and great endeavor.

At the closing ceremony, Wang Jiacheng recalled his experience attending the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist Warat Chaoyang Huaqiao Middle School. He said those historical events seemed to unfold before their eyes, making them even more aware of the value of peace.
Xi Yamu, a student from Philadelphiain the United States, remarked, "This summer camp has given warmth and shape to our once-vague image of China. When we carved our seals with our own hands, when we experienced the majestic Yingge Dance, when we worked together to fry Guo Rou, a traditional Chaoshan meat roll, our blurry impression of the Chaoshan area suddenly gained vivid details."
"We will all remember this summer trip to Shantou in 2025 and remember what this land has taught us. No matter how far we go, our roots will always remain in the Chinesemotherland." Xi Yamu said.
