At 3:00 PM on June 26th, a Maine Coon cat named "kk" arrived at Guangzhou South Railway Station, ready to board train G884 at 5:34 PM. This marked the station's first high-speed rail pet passenger. According to the pet's owner, Ms. Chen, "kk" is an 8-month-old Maine Coon weighing 12 kilograms. The cat was bound for Changsha South Railway Station on a journey lasting 2 hours and 13 minutes, with a pet ticket of 360 yuan.

According to railway regulations, only domesticated cats and dogs are eligible for transportation. Each passenger may check in no more than one pet per trip. The pet must not exceed 15 kilograms in weight or 40 centimeters in shoulder height. A total of 47 breeds of aggressive dogs and their crossbreeds are banned, as well as wild feline species protected under national wildlife regulations.

As of June 20th, 2025, China's Railway authorities have expanded the pilot program for high-speed rail pet transport to meet rising market demand along popular routes such as the Beijing–Guangzhou, Beijing–Harbin, and Shanghai–Kunming lines. The program now includes 20 more major stations such as Beijing West, Zhengzhou East, Wuhan, Changsha South, Guangzhou South, Shenzhen North, Shenyang North, Dalian North, Harbin West, Xi'an North, Chengdu East, and Qingdao. Newly eligible trains include G335, G1377, G491/492, G935, G1591, and G208. With this expansion, pet transport services now cover 25 stations across 8 major high-speed rail corridors and are available on 38 bullet train services.

身材达标，批准上车！广州南站迎首批毛孩子旅客

6月26日15时，缅因猫“kk”抵达广州南站，准备坐上当天17时34分G884次列车出发，这标志着广州南站迎来首只高铁“宠物旅客”。托运人陈女士告诉记者，猫咪叫“kk”，是一只8个月大的缅因猫，重12公斤。当天，它将乘坐G884次列车前往长沙南站，全程2小时13分，宠物托运票价360元。

根据铁路部门规定，承运宠物仅限家庭驯养猫、犬，每位托运人单次至多可托运1只宠物，单只重量不超15千克，肩高不超40厘米。47类烈性犬及含有烈性犬血统的杂交犬不予承运；国家保护动物范畴内的野生猫类不予承运。

2025年6月20日起，铁路部门将宠物高铁托运试点服务范围扩大至市场需求相对较大的京广、京哈、沪昆等高铁线路部分区段，新增北京西、郑州东、武汉、长沙南、广州南、深圳北、沈阳北、大连北、哈尔滨西、西安北、成都东、青岛等20座车站和G335、G1377、G491/492、G935、G1591、G208等列车可办理宠物托运服务，至此高铁宠物托运服务已覆盖京沪、京广、京哈、沪昆等8条高铁的25座车站、38趟动车组列车。
