As of 19:00 on February 18th, "Ne Zha 2" has grossed over 12.3 billion yuan at the box office, while Dongguan, the "Capital of Art Toys," demonstrates its prowess in the film merchandise market. Reports indicate that some manufacturers have received post-Chinese New Year orders worth 50 times their initial pre-holiday contracts, with single orders even surpassing their total annual output value from last year.
"Ne Zha turned out to be a delightful surprise," said Sun Wenke, President of Wogongchang Culture (Dongguan) Co., Ltd., grinning whenever the character is mentioned. In September 2023, Wogongchang secured its first order—under 2 million yuan—with the "Ne Zha 2" franchise, delivering it smoothly before the Chinese New Year and earning acclaim from the brand. Sun added, "After watching the film during the holiday, I sensed Ne Zha would become the next Bing Dwen Dwen which is destined to go viral." True to his prediction, post-holiday negotiations with the brand led to a cascade of orders exceeding 100 million yuan.
To fulfill the massive demand, Shipai Town's government collaborated with the Shipai Art Toy Center, Wogongchang, and 13 mold factories and arttoy enterprises to form an industrial alliance. The coalition mobilized 2,000 workers for round-the-clock production and established new assembly lines. "Our edge lies in speed—completing molds in just 10 days, a testament to Dongguan's unrivaled efficiency," emphasized Sun.
Within the alliance, Guangdong Wise Model Intelligent Manufacturing Co., Ltd. spearheaded core mold development and partial production. Li Wenbo, Wise's general manager, revealed that the company adopted a "modular disassembly + parallel development" model. By leveraging 3D printing, AI simulation, and cloud-based collaborative design, they slashed traditional mold development from 1.5 months to 10 days, achieving a breakthrough in mass production timelines.
Dongguan's Shipai Art Toy Center utilized its supply chain big data platform to analyze five years of production data, pinpointing over 20 high-quality suppliers to optimize resource allocation. The first batch of products under these orders is set for delivery by late February, allowing Ne Zha fans to soon acquire their coveted merchandise.
