With the completion of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link and the upcoming opening of the Huangmaohai Cross-Sea Passage, major cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will achieve one-hour connectivity, further enhancing the integration of the region. The Huangmaohai Cross-Sea Passage, connecting Zhuhai and Jiangmen, features five distinctive "Little Waist" towers—an innovative design never before seen internationally. This shape minimizes interference with large cargo ships navigating the waters and reduces the impact of typhoon winds, making it well-suited to the typhoon-prone conditions of the Huangmaohai area.

The Huangmaohai Cross-Sea Passage, spanning 31 kilometers, connects Zhuhai and Jiangmen in Guangdong. After over four years of construction, all bridges and tunnels are now linked, with only the steel deck paving and related works remaining. Completion of the steel deck is expected by the end of November, with the project anticipated to be finished by the end of this year. Once operational, driving from Zhuhai to Jiangmen will be reduced from over an hour to approximately 30 minutes.

The significance of the Passage extends beyond connecting Zhuhai and Jiangmen. It creates a shorter direct route to the coastal areas of western Guangdong, often referred to as the "west extension of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge." This development opens up new opportunities for industrial belts, urban clusters, and living areas along the route. It will support the Greater Bay Area in establishing itself as a world-class transportation hub.

观点 | “小蛮腰”×5!这些湾区新地标有什么作用?

随着深中通道的建成通车,以及年底黄茅海跨海通道的通车运行,大湾区主要城市之间实现1小时通达,大湾区软硬联通进一步深化。连接珠海和江门两地的黄茅海跨海通道最醒目的就是5座“小蛮腰”样的塔柱,这也是国际上首次把塔柱建成这种造型。“小蛮腰”设计,不仅能最大限度减少对海面大型货轮通航的影响,也能让台风风力的影响减弱,适应黄茅海海域台风多发的特点。

全长31公里的黄茅海跨海通道,连接的是广东的珠海和江门两地。经过4年多的建设,目前所有的桥梁、隧道已经全部贯通,剩下钢桥面铺装以及相关附属工程进入最后冲刺期。预计11月底之前完成全部钢桥面铺装工作,今年年底前项目建成通车。到时候从珠海驾车到江门的时间将从1个多小时缩短到30分钟左右。

同时,它联通的意义还不止于广东珠海、江门两地,有了黄茅海跨海通道,几乎形成了一条更短的直达路线,可以通达粤西沿海地区。因此它也被称为“港珠澳大桥的西延线”,带来的是沿线的产业带、城市群、生活圈等等发展的新契机,将助力粤港澳大湾区早日形成世界级交通枢纽。
