Many may recall the "Guangdong-brand" humanoid robot that struck the gong at theHong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) listing ceremony last year. On August 6th, the "Li-Gong D1," the first full-sized humanoid robot manufactured by a domestic collaborative robot company, was unveiled, marking the debut of a new "Guangdong-brand" robotic contender in Guangdong, China's largest hub for the intelligent robot industry.
It is reported that this newcomer is developed by the local company Guangzhou Li-Gong Industrial Co., Ltd., which is also one of the 248 national-level specialized and innovative "little giants."
"We spent a long time deciding the name. The word 'dim' has rich meanings in Cantonese; sometimes we use the term 'gaodim' to say that something is well done. As a company rooted in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, we felt that if we could combine some local culture with technological products to express our perspectives on humanoid robots, it would be impressive— gaodim." said Li Weichong, President of Li-Gong Industrial.
Li further introduced that the "Li-Gong D1" employs the concept of bionics design, mimicking the flexibility and coordination of human movement. As a result, it features multiple degrees of freedom throughout its body, combined with powerful joint torque and a positioning accuracy of ±0.03 mm, making it excel in executing complex tasks.
"Each leg of our robot has five degrees of freedom, and each arm haseight degrees of freedom. Of course, as we encounter different scenarios and technological requirements in the future, we may gradually increase the degrees of freedom, making it even more flexible," Listated. Equipped with Li-Gong's latest artificial intelligence algorithms and a robust real-time computing platform, the "Li-Gong D1" possesses highly intelligent perception and autonomous decision-making capabilities, which enables it to analyze environmental information in real-time, intelligently plan its walking paths, and improve its task execution efficiency and accuracy through continuous learning and optimization.
Will compound robots, with the functions of both mobile and industrial robots, be replaced by humanoid robots?
"Our company is a manufacturer of both compound robots and humanoid robots, so it's like having two brothers that complement each other. Compound robots have already been well-applied in many industrial scenarios. As general humanoid robots join hands with compound robots, both work efficiency and quality of life can be improved," said Li. In his view, as technology advances, especially with the rise of artificial intelligence, the collaboration between compound robots and humanoid robots will grow stronger.
