In the early hours of July 28^th, Beijing time, Vivian Kong Man Wai claimed the first gold medal for Hong Kong at the Paris 2024 Olympics in the women's épée final . This victory marks her third Olympic medal for Hong Kong. The 30-year-old, competing in her third Olympics, is not only a fencing star but also has a passion for ballet, figure skating, and taekwondo. A true academic prodigy, Kong holds a bachelor's degree in international politics from Stanford University, a master's degree in law from Renmin University of China , and a doctorate in law from the Chinese University of Hong Kong . She is indeed a "hexagonal warrior".

A decisive strike brings tears of victory

The fencing competition took place at the Grand Palais in Paris. Kong, facing France's Auriane Mallo-Breton , felt immense pressure right from the start. Falling behind at 1-7, Kong requested a change of sword. Returning to the match, she showcased an incredible comeback, tying the score at 10-10. After reaching 11-11 and then 12-12, the match went into sudden death. 

Amidst the overwhelming cheers of the crowd, Kong remained calm and delivered the winning strike, securing her first Olympic gold with a score of 13-12.

After the match, Kong emotionally said with tears, "The competition wasn't just for myself, so I didn't want to lose badly. I'm glad I didn't let everyone down. I finally won."

Third time's the charm: dream comes true in Paris

This is Kong's third Olympic appearance. She made history at the Rio 2016 Olympics by reaching the last 16, marking Hong Kong's first Olympic victory in fencing. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics , she reached the quarterfinals, holding back tears and apologizing to the public three times after her defeat.

Driven by the dream of becoming an Olympic champion, Kong cherished her third opportunity to compete on the Olympic stage. Her determination and desire for victory enabled her to stay composed and fight back from a significant deficit. 江旻憓：奥运“剑后”更是“跨界女王”

北京时间7月28日凌晨，在2024巴黎奥运会的女子重剑决赛中，江旻憓为中国香港拿下本届奥运会的首金，同时也是中国香港在奥运会上获得的第三枚金牌。30岁的江旻憓是第三次出战奥运，除击剑之外，她还喜欢芭蕾舞、花样滑冰、跆拳道等运动，同时还是女学霸，曾获得斯坦福大学国际政治学士、中国人民大学法律硕士、香港中文大学法律博士，是真正的“六边形战士”。

一剑封喉，终于可以为胜利而流泪

28日凌晨，巴黎奥运会的击剑项目在巴黎大皇宫进行。大皇宫的主角正是江旻憓。因为对手布列塔尼是法国人，从进场开始江旻憓便感受到了空前的压力。布列塔尼连续得分，江旻憓一度陷入1比7的落后局面。江旻憓说自己当时觉得“输成这样太丢脸了”。于是她提出换剑的要求。换剑再上场后，江旻憓似乎变了一个人，她顽强地将比分扳至10比10，在经过了11平、12平之后，终于把比赛拖入了加时赛“一剑决胜”。

面对全场观众的山呼海啸，面对决定命运的“一剑决胜”，江旻憓冷静出手，一剑封喉，13比12，她获得了个人竞技生涯的首枚奥运金牌。

赛后，江旻憓喜极而泣：“比赛不是自己一个人的，所以不想输得太难看，我终于没有对不住大家。我终于没有再输了。”

三战奥运，终于在巴黎一朝圆梦

这是30岁的江旻憓第三次出战奥运。2016年里约奥运会她止步16强，创下香港击剑奥运首胜历史。东京奥运会她止步8强，当时，她在赛后强忍泪水，三度向公众道歉。

带着梦想前行，江旻憓最大的愿望便是夺得奥运冠军。前两次参赛无缘奖牌的经历，让她更加珍惜第三次踏上奥运舞台的机会，对胜利的渴望让她在一度落后的绝境中沉着应战，一分一分追上来，上演了绝地反击的惊险戏码。那个在东京哭着说“对不起”的姑娘，这次可以在巴黎哭着说：“我不敢相信这（冠军）是我。”
