Recently, the mid-year sales promotion in Guangzhou's clothing wholesale markets, offering deals like "100 yuan for 3 pieces" or "100 yuan for 5 pieces", has attracted a large influx of shoppers. More and more young people have developed a fondness for visiting these wholesale markets. Behind this trend lies the continuous upgrading of Guangzhou's clothing wholesale markets leveraging their industrial advantages, as well as efforts to explore original brands. At the end of last year, Guangzhou boasted over 50,000 clothing designers, the highest number in China. A large number of products and original designers in the clothing market come from Guangzhou, creating a vibrant market ecosystem that is diverse and richly layered.

Comments like "can't stop buying" and "can't control myself" flood the video "Guangzhou Clothing Shocks Me" by a blogger from Xinjiang, who went on a shopping spree in Guangzhou.

With the mid-year sales promotion underway, recently there has been a surge of shoppers flocking to traditional clothing wholesale hubs like Shisanhang, Shahe, and Guangzhou Baima for bargain hunting, even more so than usual.

At Mingguan Clothing Wholesale Market in Haizhu District, rows of clothing priced as low as 20 yuan, 50 yuan for 2 pieces, and 99 yuan for 3 pieces are displayed, attracting large groups of young people who come in droves to shop.

Young people's love for wholesale markets is closely tied to the recent upgrading of these markets. In the past, when people mentioned wholesale markets in Guangzhou, many might have pictured a noisy, crowded, hot, and overwhelming environment. Today, several wholesale markets in Guangzhou have undergone significant transformations, enhancing both their external facades and internal designs. They now boast spacious, well-lit, well-ventilated spaces with clearly defined sections and a wide range of product categories. Combined with attractive pricing, these changes have attracted more and more young people to embrace wholesale markets.

In fact, well-known brands like Girdear, Biemlfdlkk, and Ochirly all started from wholesale markets in Guangzhou before gaining global recognition and becoming e-commerce giants. Currently, younger original design brands coexist with obscure small shops offering affordable prices. Various styles with different price ranges form a diverse and multi-category Guangzhou wholesale clothing market.

In recent years, Korean-style fashion was once popular across various business districts in Guangzhou. Wholesale markets like UUS and APM were even referred to as "Dongdaemun branches". With the rising trend of Chinese national style, "New Chinese Style" has now become a new fashion trendsetter.

Entering Guangzhou's Baima Clothing Market located in Yuexiu District, most prices range from over 100 yuan to 1000 yuan. The clothing section across its 8 floors emphasizes original designs. Many Guangzhou brands incorporate traditional Chinese cultural elements into Western silhouettes, achieving a balance of warmth and restraint with boldness and neatness. "From January to May this year, sales of 'Neo-Chinese Style' clothing have seen a year-on-year increase of 20% to 30%," said a store manager. Since the beginning of 2024, there has been a noticeable increase in customers from Hong Kong, Macao, Malaysia and Singapore. The original design clothing is favored by customers for its cost-effectiveness.

Originality is not only pursued at Baima, but also at Kapok International Fashion City, another IP of Guangzhou. According to its official WeChat account, among the over 900 merchants there, more than 80% are independent brands. It has brought together nearly 2,000 original brand designers.

It is reported that at the end of last year, Guangzhou had over 50,000 clothing designers, ranking first nationwide. Meanwhile, as one of China's largest hubs for the garment industry, Guangzhou boasts a complete industrial chain and strong creative capabilities. Numerous products from clothing markets and original designers are concentrated in Guangzhou, forming a vibrant market ecosystem that is diverse and richly layered.
