China's Ministry of Commerce on Friday called on relevant countries to resist economic coercion from the U.S. in the semiconductor sector.

A ministry spokesperson made the remarks following media reports that the United States is considering tougher measures to exert pressure on enterprises from countries such as Japan and the Netherlands to restrict their trade of chips with China to a greater extent.

有媒体报道，美国正考虑采取更严厉措施，对日本和荷兰等国企业施压，以进一步限制对中国的芯片贸易。

7月19日，中国商务部回应称：一段时间以来，美国频繁泛化国家安全概念，滥用出口管制措施，人为割裂全球半导体市场，肆意干涉其他国家企业间正常经贸往来，严重背离自由贸易原则和多边贸易原则，严重冲击了全球产业链供应链稳定。中方对此一贯坚决反对。中方呼吁有关国家坚持市场原则和契约精神，抵制美国经济胁迫的做法。
