During the first phase of the Canton Fair (April 15th to 19th), a team of 11 experienced lawyers from Guangzhou provided various legal consulting services to more than 240 merchants from 33 countries and regions, such as Russia, the UAE (Dubai), Venezuela, South Africa, the UK, Mexico, Spain, Pakistan, Brazil, and Canada. They addressed inquiries ranging from how to determine if products infringe intellectual property rights abroad to the procedures for establishing companies in China and the regulations for selling products.

Compared to previous editions, this year's Guangzhou legal service team at the Canton Fair saw comprehensive upgrades in terms of team size, member composition, and service offerings. Notably, six lawyers from other cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area were deployed for on-site legal consultations, including four from Hong Kong and two from Macao.

On the first day of duty, Lawyer Zhang You, a member of the Guangzhou legal service team, noted various inquiries, such as how purchasers could claim compensation from suppliers in quality disputes and how to mitigate credit risks in procurement contracts. Exhibitors also sought advice on helping foreign clients recover trademark infringements and protecting their intellectual property rights in international trade.

According to Hu Qingye, a lawyer from Hong Kong, the legal training received by most Hong Kong lawyers in common law and English enables them to play a significant role in resolving legal issues between Chinese mainland enterprises and overseas merchants.

Additionally, for the first time, the Guangzhou Lawyers Association included mediators from the Guangzhou International Commercial Mediation Center (GICMC) and lawyers from joint law firms in the GBA in the on-site duty roster. Yu Xiaoming, a mediator at GICMC, noted a significant increase in merchants seeking advice on international trade processes, cross-border payment essentials, and transaction risks compared to last year's fair.

粤港澳大湾区律师首次服务广交会

“如何判断产品在国外有没有侵犯知识产权”“想了解在中国开设公司的手续以及销售产品的规定”……在本届广交会第一期展会期间（4月15日—19日），广州律师服务团11名资深律师轮班为来自俄罗斯、阿联酋迪拜、委内瑞拉、南非、英国、墨西哥、西班牙、巴基斯坦、巴西、加拿大等33个国家和地区的240多位客商提供各类涉外法律服务咨询，帮助他们解决法律难题。

相较上一届，本届参与广交会的广州律师服务团成员数量、成员结构、服务内容均有全面升级，并首次启用6位粤港澳大湾区律师提供现场法律咨询服务，其中4名香港执业律师、2名澳门律师。

首日参与值班的广州律师服务团成员张由律师表示，在提供驻场法律咨询时，有采购商咨询如何在质量纠纷中向供应商索赔，如何降低采购合同中的信用风险；也有参展商咨询如何帮助外国客户拿回被抢注的商标，如何在对外贸易中保护自己的知识产权。　　

“大部分香港律师接受过普通法系、英语等训练，这让来自香港的粤港澳大湾区律师在处理内地企业和海外客商之间的法律问题时能发挥积极作用。”来自香港的粤港澳大湾区律师胡庆业说。

此外，广州市律师协会还首次吸纳广州国际商贸商事调解中心调解员、粤港澳联营律师事务所律师等参与驻场值班。广州国际商贸商事调解中心调解员于晓明表示，去年她参加过广交会法律服务咨询，明显感觉今年前来咨询的客商更多了，“许多客商前来咨询国际贸易流程、跨境支付要点、交易风险等事项，我们进行了一一解答”。
