Tourists flock to Guangdong to celebrate the Chinese New Year

As the Chinese New Year Golden Week officially comes to a close on February 17th, Guangdong Province emerges as a highly popular destination for the "Chinese New Year in warm winter," attracting a large number of tourists from northern regions to experience the festivities in the south, known as the "reverse Chinese New Year migration."

The unique Cantonese-style New Year atmosphere not only enriches the tourism experience in Guangdong but also showcases the unique charm of Guangdong's "warm journey" in cities like Foshan, Shantou, and Qingyuan.

Prior to the Chinese New Year, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism launched the "Come to Guangdong for the Chinese New Year" and other ten major initiatives to promote cultural and tourism consumption in 2024. Over 260 A-level tourist attractions, provincial-level and above tourist resorts, and tourism leisure districts have launched more than 500 activities, fully showcasing Cantonese Chinese New Year customs, and creating new tourism and leisure scenes and models.

According to data from Mafengwo, due to a combination of cuisine, scenery, customs, and culture, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has become a popular travel destination during this Chinese New Year, with Guangzhou ranking second among domestic hot cities, second only to Beijing. Guangzhou also ranks in the top three Chinese New Year destinations on platforms like Ctrip and Fliggy.

A set of related data confirms the booming tourism during the Chinese New Year in Guangdong.OnCtrip platform, tourist orders in Guangdong Province during the Chinese New Year holiday increased by 93% year-on-year, while ticket orders increased by 18% and tourist orders in Guangzhou doubled year-on-year, with ticket orders increasing by 49%.

On Fliggy platform, the booking volume of tourist destinations in Guangdong during the Chinese New Year holiday increased by more than 100% compared to last year, and the booking volume of package tours increased by more than twice, with hotel bookings in Guangzhou and Shenzhen increasing by 100% and 150% respectively compared to last year.

According to the travel car data from Ly. com, Guangzhou South Railway Station has become the most popular domestic pick-up and drop-off station during the Chinese New Year, while Guangzhou Zoo, along with Shanghai Disneyland and Beijing Universal Resort, has become one of the top three most popular parent-child tourist attractions during the Chinese New Year.

Apart from Guangzhou, Shenzhen has also made it into the top ten popular cities. Data from Mafengwo shows that the number of tourists from Hong Kong and Macao to the city has doubled.The GBA tourism market is thriving.

"This year’s Chinese New Year holiday, various scenic spots in Guangdong Province have launched rich and colorful cultural and entertainment activities, covering local intangible cultural heritage and ethnic folk activities, attracting a large number of tourists."

Wang Shuopeng, Executive President of the Guangdong Tourism Association, stated that the effectiveness of attracting tourists to Guangdong during the Chinese New Year holiday is significant, which is related to factors such as the full organization by local governments and scenic spots, as well as good weather during the Chinese New Year period. The combination of favorable conditions has created a particularly lively atmosphere in Guangdong's Chinese New Year cultural and tourism market this year, making the trip worthwhile for tourists.

春节假期收官,各地游客争相体验“到广东过大年”

2月17日,大年初八,2024年春节黄金周正式收官。广东省成为“暖冬过年”的高人气目的地,吸引大量游客从北向南,“反向过年”。

独特的粤式年味不仅丰富了在粤过年的旅游体验,带旺佛山、汕头、清远等一众小城,更展示了广东“有温度的旅程”的独特魅力。

春节前夕,广东省文化和旅游厅推出“请到广东过大年”等2024年十大促文旅消费举措,发动260多家A级旅游景区、省级以上旅游度假区及旅游休闲街区推出500多项迎新春活动,全面展示广式年俗,打造旅游休闲新场景新业态。

据马蜂窝大数据,由于美食、美景、年俗、文化“面面俱到”,粤港澳大湾区成为这个春节的热门旅行目的地,其中广州高居国内热门城市第二,仅次于北京。在携程、飞猪等平台,广州亦位居春节热门旅游目的地前三。

一组相关数据印证了在广东旅游过年的火爆——在携程平台,春节假期广东省旅游订单同比增长93%,门票订单量同比增长18%,广州市旅游订单同比增长翻番,门票订单量增长49%。

飞猪平台春节假期广东目的地旅游预订量同比去年增长超100%,线路游预订量同比增长超2倍,其中广州、深圳的酒店预订量同比去年分别增长100%、150%。

另据同程旅行用车数据,广州南站成为春节国内接送站最热门的火车站,广州动物园与上海迪士尼乐园、北京环球度假区一同成为春节最热门的三大亲子游景区。

除广州外,深圳也跻身热门城市前十。马蜂窝大数据显示,中国香港、中国澳门游客接待量均成倍增长,大湾区到处游人如织,旅游市场一片火红。

“今年春节假期,广东省各地景区开展了丰富多彩的文化和娱乐活动,从各地特色非遗到民族民俗特色活动,吸引了大量游客。”

广东省旅游协会执行会长王硕朋表示,今年春节假期引客入粤成效显著,与各地政府和景区组织充分以及过年期间天气较好等因素都相关,“天时地利与人和”促成了今年广东的春节文旅市场氛围特别热闹,让游客不虚此行。

这个春节,在广东“遇见一个有温度的冬季,开启一趟有温度的旅程”广为人知,广东以“温暖”吸睛,吸引大量游客来粤过大年。
