Travel forecast for 2024 New Year's Day

With less than half a month left until New Year's Day, several online travel platforms have released predictions for New Year's travel.

Ctrip's data indicates that overall domestic travel orders for the 2024 New Year's holiday have tripled compared to last year, with Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou ranking as the top three popular destinations. Notably, Guangzhou's New Year's holiday orders have surged by 543% year-on-year.

Train travel for New Year's sees a 194% YoY increase

New Year's Day train tickets went on sale on the 16th, marking the beginning of the New Year's travel season. According to Ctrip's user reservation data, there is a 194% year-on-year growth in reservations for 2024 New Year's train travel compared to the previous year.

In terms of flights, data from UADP shows that by December 12th, domestic flight bookings for the New Year's holiday have exceeded 1.2 million, witnessing a 23% increase from the same period last year.

According to a report by Tuniu, in the first two weeks of December, bookings for New Year's holiday travel products have increased by 220% year-on-year. Popular themes include local hot spring trips, nearby theme park visits, northern snow and ice tours, southern island getaways, and overseas New Year celebrations.

Young people emphasize the ceremonial aspect of New Year's travel

The increasing youthfulness of the traveling demographic has led to a growing emphasis on the ceremonial aspect of New Year's travel.

Dazzling fireworks and lights contribute to the festive atmosphere, and major scenic spots and theme parks are gearing up for grand fireworks and light displays. Ctrip's data shows a 4.5-fold increase in reservations for 2024 New Year's theme park tickets compared to the previous year.

Moreover, more consumers are embarking on the "chase for concerts" route. According to Ctrip's predictions, hotel bookings for concerts and music festivals around the 2024 New Year's have increased compared to the same period in 2022 and 2019. For instance, for Chen Yixun (Eason Chan)'s concert in Guangzhou, hotel bookings around the venue from December 29th to 31st have increased by 300% compared to 2019, with some popular hotels sold out a month in advance.

"Visa-free friends circle" boosts New Year's inbound and outbound travel

Recent improvements in immigration policies have greatly facilitated the movement of people between China and other countries, leading to a rapid increase in both inbound and outbound New Year's travel. As of December 15th, Ctrip's platform has seen a nearly 5-fold year-on-year increase in outbound travel bookings for the New Year's holiday.

Furthermore, the recent convenient visa-free policies have enhanced the cost-effectiveness of trips to "Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand." Products such as the "6-day tour of Bangkok-Koh Samet, Pattaya" "5-day private group in Singapore," and "5-day tour of Singapore-Malaysia" have experienced a peak in reservations.

Notably, after China implemented unilateral visa-free policy for ordinary passport holders from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia, there has been a sharp increase in instantaneous search volume for inbound travel.

Due to the proximity of the New Year's and Christmas holidays, many overseas Chinese and foreign friends are taking advantage of the holidays to enter China for family visits or tourism. Ctrip's data reveals that during the New Year's period, the popularity of inbound tourism accommodation has grown by more than 200% compared to the same period in 2019.

2024年元旦出行预测:“跨年仪式感”拉满

距元旦假期不足半个月,多家在线旅游平台发布元旦跨年出游预测。

其中携程数据显示,2024年元旦假期国内整体旅游订单量同比去年增长超3倍,上海、北京、广州位居热门目的地前三,其中广州元旦假期订单量同比增长543%。

元旦火车票出行同比增长194%

元旦假期首日火车票16日开售,元旦出游大幕将由此拉开。根据携程平台用户预约购票数据,当前预约2024年元旦火车票出行订单量同比去年元旦增长194%。

机票方面,航旅纵横大数据显示,截至12月12日,元旦假期国内机票预订量超过120万,比去年同期预订量增长约23%。

根据途牛发布的《2024元旦旅游消费预测》,12月前两周,元旦假期旅游产品预订量同比增长220%,其中家门口温泉游、周边主题乐园游、北上冰雪游、南下海岛游、出境跨年游等出游主题备受追捧。

年轻人注重跨年游仪式感

出游群体的年轻化,导致消费者愈发追求跨年游的仪式感。

璀璨的烟花与灯光是跨年氛围感的营造者,每到年末,各大景区、主题乐园都将开启盛大的烟花灯光表演。携程数据显示,2024年元旦主题公园门票预订量同比增长4.5倍。

此外,更多消费者踏上“追逐演唱会”之路。据携程预测,2024年元旦,演唱会及音乐节附近酒店的预订量同比2022年及2019年同期均有增长。以广州陈奕迅演唱会为例,截至12月14日,12月29日至31日演唱会场馆周边酒店预订量同比2019年增长300%,部分热门酒店提前1个月已售罄。

“免签朋友圈”助推元旦出入境游

近期出入境管理政策持续优化,极大便利了中外人员往来,元旦出入境游均快速升温。截至12月15日,携程平台上元旦假期出境游预订订单量同比增长近5倍。

此外,近期的便利免签政策进一步提升了“新马泰”出游性价比,“泰国曼谷-芭提雅沙美岛6日游”“新加坡5日私家团”“新加坡-马来西亚5日游”等产品迎来预订高峰。

值得关注的是,近期中国对法国、德国、意大利、荷兰、西班牙、马来西亚6国持普通护照人员试行单方面免签政策出台后,刺激入境瞬时搜索量暴增。

因元旦假期与圣诞假期相邻,不少异国游子和外国友人利用假期入境探亲或旅游。携程数据显示,元旦期间,入境旅游住宿热度同比2019年同期增长200%以上。
