On the evening of November 30^th, the name of the Guangzhou Marathon mascot was revealed! Combining public voting results, comprehensive evaluations, and expert opinions, the chosen name for the Guangzhou Marathon mascot is "Lele," affectionately nicknamed "MaraGO"!

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Guangzhou Marathon, and for the first time, the organizing committee introduced the marathon's official mascot. Inspired by the ram, the mascot showcases the vibrant culture of the "City of Ram" (Yangcheng) while sporting sporty attire predominantly in the color of the red cotton flower. Energetic and adorable, the mascot reflects the spirit of the marathon. The committee also sought public suggestions for the mascot's name, receiving enthusiastic responses from the citizens.

In Cantonese, "Le" signifies excellence, making "Lele" synonymous with health, capability, and vitality, radiating inspirational positive energy. Additionally, the Mandarin pronunciation "lè"(叻) is akin to "le,"(乐), signifying joyful running and happy life. The repeated characters in the name "Lele" are catchy and align with the mascot's lovable image.

The term "MaraGO" cleverly combines "Mara" from the marathon and "GO," resonating with the image of a little lamb, the Cantonese pronunciation, and the English word "GO." This imparts a sense of vigor and perfectly aligns with the theme of the Guangzhou Marathon mascot. The fluffy head of the mascot also resembles the traditional delicacy "Mara Cake," sharing a similar pronunciation and conveying auspicious meanings of continuous growth and prosperity.

广马吉祥物定名“叻叻”！昵称“马拉羔”

11月30日晚，广州马拉松赛吉祥物名字出炉！结合公众投票结果、综合评审及专家意见，广州马拉松赛吉祥物名字确定为“叻叻”，昵称“马拉羔”！

今年是广州马拉松赛十周年，广马组委会首次发布了广州马拉松赛吉祥物，该吉祥物以羊为原型，彰显丰富多彩的羊城文化，并身穿以“木棉红”为主色调的运动服，朝气蓬勃、灵动可爱。组委会还公开向社会进行征名，得到了市民的积极响应与参与。

粤语“叻”是厉害的意思，“叻叻”代表着健康向上、有本领、有活力，充满励志的正能量。同时普通话发音“lè”，同“乐”，代表着快乐奔跑、快乐生活。“叻叻”为叠字名字，朗朗上口，符合吉祥物的可爱形象。

马拉羔的“马拉”对应马拉松赛，“羔”呼应小羊羔的形象、粤语发音与英文“GO”相似，“马拉GO”有着马拉松赛的一股冲劲，与广马吉祥物主题契合度高。同时，吉祥物蓬松的头顶像传统美食“马拉糕”，且同音，有着“步步高、蒸蒸日上”的喜庆涵义。
