On November 24th, a press conference announcing the opening of the trial operation for tourism on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was held in Zhuhai. It was introduced during the conference that the trial operation will commence in mid-December this year. At that time, residents of Hong Kong, Macao, and the Chinese Mainland will be able to enjoy group tours of the bridge starting from the Zhuhai land port.
According to the information provided, during the trial operation period, the designated tourism route will be limited to round trips between the Zhuhai land port and Blue Dolphin Island. The tourism activities will be managed through a reservation-based group tour system. Subsequently, based on the actual needs of residents from the three regions departing from their respective ports for sightseeing, Zhuhai City will offer visitors a "safer, smoother, and more exciting" experience of touring the bridge.
As a super project connecting Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has emerged as a landmark in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and a stunning scenic attraction on the Lingdingyang, the middle channel of the Pearl River estuary. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the bridge's engineering and cultural knowledge and capture memorable moments against the backdrop of this remarkable structure. They can admire the Jiuzhou Bridge with its "sail" shape, the dolphin-like Jianghai Bridge and the Qingzhou Bridge shaped in a "Chinese knot" along with three navigable spans. There is also a chance to encounter the Chinese white dolphins, often referred to as the "giant pandas of the sea". Furthermore, the destination Blue Dolphin Island features an architectural complex made of raw concrete for marine engineering in the shape of an oyster that incorporates elements of the traditional Qilou buildings, making it the world's largest of its kind.
For the trial run, two kinds of individuals are allowed to participate in bridge tourism: Chinese mainland residents with valid resident identity cards and Hong Kong-Macao residents with valid mainland travel permits. Visitors must carry these documents for inspection when entering or exiting the designated port area.
It is reported that the entire tour of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge takes approximately 140 minutes. Upon successful reservation, visitors can follow the signs and directions on the artificial island roads and structures at the Zhuhai land port to the tourism inspection hall of the bridge. After gathering at the designated location, visitors will be grouped according to the same shift schedule and proceed with ticket collection and verification procedures at the tourism inspection hall. A joint inspection unit will conduct baggage checks on visitors and their belongings. Once the inspection is completed, the entire group will enter the designated area of the land port and board the designated shuttle bus to Blue Dolphin Island for sightseeing. Throughout the bus journey, as well as at the exhibition hall, explanatory services will be provided for approximately 110 minutes. After the tour concludes, the entire touring group will return to the inspection hall by bus again, where they will disembark and depart. Additional explanatory services will be provided during the approximately 30-minute return journey.
