Film magazines, celebrity pictorials, and star signatures - things that may seem closely associated with today's young generation of celebrity enthusiasts, are actually belong to an 83-year-old man.

In the heart of Jiangmen's Penglai District, a quaint neighborhood bears witness to an unexpected treasure trove of cinematic history. Mr. Xu Piming, an 83-year-old Indonesian immigrant, has turned his home into a living museum of film and nostalgia. As you step inside his front door, you'll find yourself transported to what can only be described as a miniature gallery of vintage movie culture. The walls of his living room are adorned with classic movie magazine covers, posters, and even some rare autographed photos of legendary stars from yesteryears, including icons like Lin Dai, Zhou Xuan, and Xia Meng. In the room, three cabinets house an extensive collection of vintage film magazines, neatly organized and preserved.

Mr. Xu's journey into this world of cinematic memorabilia began during his childhood in Indonesia. His fondest memories revolve around going to the local theaters with his parents to watch Chinese films, providing solace from homesickness. His all-time favorite, "Battle on Shangganling Mountain," a 1950s Chinese film depicting the heroic struggles of the Chinese people's Volunteer Army in the Korean War, very popular in Indonesia back then and left an indelible mark on him.

In his adulthood, despite returning to China for his education and career, Mr. Xu has a long-lasting passion for cinema. After retiring from his teaching career in 1996, he embarked on pilgrimages to Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macao, and even Indonesia, scouring local flea markets in search of vintage movie magazines and posters.

These collectibles aren't just a testament to his love for Chinese cinema but also serve as a poignant connection to his homeland while he was living abroad.
