On the evening of September 14th, the large-scale dance drama "Light of Million Hopes", created and produced by the Nanfang Singing and Dancing Troupe, made a dazzling debut at the Longgang Cultural Center Grand Theater in Shenzhen. Simultaneously, the inaugural Shenzhen (Longgang) Colorful Dance Festival was opened.
This dance drama is also the opening performance of the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Art Tour". It aims to showcase the charm of high-quality stage art from the Greater Bay Area to the audience in Shenzhen.
Interpreting the struggle behind millions of people
The art tour is one of the significant special events of the third Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macao Greater Bay Area Cultural and Art Festival. Leveraging the Greater Bay Area Theater Alliance and focusing on the Greater Bay Area's "9+2" city cluster, it has selected 16 national stage art masterpieces and outstanding new creations from provincial key literary and art troupes. The tour will take place from September to October this year and will consist of 30 performances.
As a key production, the dance drama "Light of Million Hopes" presents a growth story with contemporary dance vocabulary, depicting the journey of two generations of electrical workers who remain committed to their ideals while lighting up countless homes. It interprets the struggle behind millions of people and serves as a song of youth.
This appearance at the inaugural Longgang Colorful Dance Festival is the first performance of the dance drama "Light of Million Hopes" in the Greater Bay Area tour, following its debut at the Guangdong Art Theater on July 28th-29th. Next, the production is set to tour at the Foshan Qionghua Grand Theatre on October 19th-20th.
Top dance troupes from various places gather in Shenzhen to showcase their dance skills
The inaugural Shenzhen (Longgang) Colorful Dance Festival, characterized by "multiple dance genres and cross-disciplinary integration," collaborates with dance teams from the Greater Bay Area, as well as international and Chinese dance troupes, to host exchange exhibitions. It explores the cross-disciplinary fusion of dance with new technologies and various dance genres, presenting the spectacular world of"boundaryless" dance. Renowned dance troupes from across the nation have converged in Longgang, offering a diverse array of genres that encompass large-scale dance dramas, ethnic folk dances, ballet, modern dance, contemporary dance, street dance, and more. They have come together to deliver four dazzling and dynamic dance performances.
Among them, the special exhibition of ethnic and folk dance on the evening of September 15th will feature performances by the Guangdong Liannan National Song and Dance Troupe, as well as local performing teams from Guangzhou and Shenzhen. They will present dances from various ethnic groups such as the Yao, Yi, and Zhuang, allowing the audience to appreciate the colorful diversity of ethnic dances in China.
The special exhibition of ballet and contemporary dance on the evening of September 16th will be jointly presented by the Division of Arts at Shenzhen University, the Tianjin Ballet Troupe, and the Shenzhen December Dance Art Troupe.
