Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on Tuesday inspected the city of Maoming, south China's Guangdong Province.

Xi went to a village in Genzi Township, Gaozhou City of Maoming.

At the village, Xi visited a lychee orchard and a longan and lychee cooperative to learn about local efforts to develop distinctive planting industry and advance rural revitalization.

Relying on lychee as the local speciality, Maoming has drawn a beautiful picture of rural revitalization depicting rich farmers, beautiful rural scenery and strong agriculture. With the help of lychee, Maoming has also shared its experience with the entire city. As a result, villages integrating agriculture, culture and tourism have emerged, such as Shuanghe Village, Tan Village, and Tangxia Village. Rural revitalization has witnessed success in many places.

Small lychee brings big fortune

The development of the industry is the foundation for rural revitalization. To become an important pillar for people and the village, the lychee industry needs to extend and strengthen its industrial chain, and make good use of four elements: industry, market, technology, and culture. In the past few years, besides relying on earning income by planting lychees, Baiqiao Village has also developed various industries centered around lychees, such as fruit processing, cultural tourism, and e-commerce. Such measures enhanced the additional value of lychee and made more income for local people by exploring new ways of developing the lychee industry. In 2022, the per capita net income of the entire village reached 51,000 yuan.

E-commerce leads to booming sales of lychee

The rapid development of e-commerce in Baiqiao Village is achieved by several factors: an improved infrastructure, the operation of highways, the upgrades of logistics and distribution service systems, and the rising popularity of e-commerce among fruit farmers. He Qing, born in the 1980s, resigned from a state-owned enterprise in 2014 and returned to his hometown. He worked in a lychee e-commerce company and sold nearly 25,000 kilograms of lychees. According to He, many people have achieved higher profits by building their brands, improving services and pursuing high-end agriculture.

The revitalization of Baiqiao Village relies on the support of the lychee industry. It integrates standardized planting, cultural tourism, scientific research, fruit processing, and other forms of business.

What’s more, Baiqiao Village has been selected as the national key village of rural tourism and the characteristic village of cultural tourism in Guangdong Province.

The lychee model blossoms in the whole city

By seizing and taking advantage of local specialities, Maoming made great achievements in developing the lychee industry, which nowadays has become the main business for rural revitalization and to increase local farmers' income.

As a major agricultural city in Guangdong, Maoming also has local specialities from the south of the Five Ridges, such as longan and Sanhua plum. The lychee industry took the lead in exploring a replicable model for rural revitalization in Maoming, and it is implemented throughout the whole city.

Hoping to increase the income of village and farmers, Maoming plans to promote the full industry chain, featuring five trees (lychee, longan, agarwood, Huajuhong, Sanhua plum), one fish (Luofei Fish) and premade dishes industry. Six national modern agricultural industrial parks and 19 provincial-level modern agricultural industrial parks have been supported to be stronger.

Relying on the local industry, Maoming has also implemented the project of Revitalizing Counties and Villages and the High-Quality Development of Counties, Towns, and Villages to promote rural revitalization and coordinate urban-rural development to a higher level.

lThere are 129 large-scale agricultural product processing enterprises in Gaozhou City, with an annual processing capacity of 780,000 tons of agricultural products. In addition, Gaozhou takes the lead in building 59 Tiantou Intelligent Harbors in Guangdong. In terms of regional brand, Gaozhou Lychee was awarded the most valuable regional brand for local agricultural specialities in Guangdong, with a brand value reaching 12.22 billion yuan.

茂名打造“土特产”富民兴村样板：借“荔”起航 全城开花

4月11日，习近平总书记在广东省茂名市高州市根子镇柏桥村考察荔枝种植园、龙眼荔枝专业合作社，了解当地发展荔枝等特色种植业、推进乡村振兴等情况。

依靠荔枝这个“土特产”，一幅“农民富、农村美、农业强”的乡村振兴美丽画卷在徐徐展开。借“荔”扬帆，茂名把经验延伸到全市，涌现出双合村、谭村、塘霞村等农文旅产业融合的村庄，乡村振兴呈现多点开花的局面。

小荔枝变致富果

乡村振兴，产业兴旺是基础。荔枝产业要成为富民兴村的重要产业，需要拉长补强产业链，打好产业、市场、科技、文化“四张牌”。过去数年，靠荔枝创收的同时，柏桥村除了种植荔枝，还发展了鲜果加工、文化旅游、电商等多种产业，提升荔枝附加值、新功能和新空间，拓宽村民致富渠道。2022年全村人均纯收入达5.1万元。

电商弄潮销量增

柏桥村基础设施进一步完善，加上高速路开通，物流配送服务体系升级，果农电商意识提升，大大促进了农村电商的发展。80后何清2014年从国企辞职后回家乡做荔枝电商，第一年就卖出了将近5万斤荔枝的好成绩。何清表示，不少人都通过打造品牌、完善服务、走高端路线的模式，实现利润更高。

柏桥村振兴有赖于荔枝这个富民兴村产业的强力支撑，集标准化种植、文化旅游、科研加工等多种业态于一体。同时，柏桥村入选全国乡村旅游重点村、广东省文化和旅游特色村。

借“荔”推进多点开花

茂名立足“土”、体现“特”、形成“产”，将荔枝特色产业做得风生水起，成为当地乡村振兴的主产业、农民增收的主渠道。作为广东农业大市，茂名还有龙眼、三华李等岭南佳果。荔枝产业率先突破，探索出一条可借鉴可复制的乡村振兴茂名样板，并在全市实施。

茂名聚焦增加“村集体收入”和“农民收入”两个核心指标，谋划推动“五棵树一条鱼一桌菜”（五棵树为荔枝、龙眼、沉香、化橘红、三华李，一条鱼即罗非鱼，一桌菜即预制菜产业）特色产业全链发展，做强6个国家现代农业产业园、19个省级现代农业产业园。

依托产业，茂名还实施“百墟千村振兴计划”“百县千镇万村高质量发展工程”，推动乡村振兴、城乡区域协调发展迈向更高水平。
