On the morning of April 7, Zhong Nanshan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the world's top expert in respiratory disease, delivered a lecture the Introducing Remarks of Respiratory Diseases to the students of 2021 grade from the Nanshan Class (named after Zhong) of Guangzhou Medical University in 2021.

With the welcoming applause of the students, the lecture started. In the class, Zhong Nanshan combined his rich experience in clinical practice and research to explain medical knowledge of the respiratory system for the students born in the 00s.


To begin with, he introduced the lecture with the current situation of COVID-19, and then explained in detail the symptoms, risks and diagnosis of respiratory diseases, the structure and function of the lungs, and the 5P model of health management, which are Predictive, Preventive, Pre-symptomatic, Personalized and Participatory. What's more, Zhong Nanshan briefly explained the diagnosis methods of respiratory diseases: "It can be done comprehensively by referring to the patient's medical history, carefully observing the symptoms, testing the patient's signs, and doing other examinations with the help of the laboratory." Speaking of past cases, he still remembers them vividly: "Once there was a patient with heavy breathing. Although she has not yet entered the room, I can initially determine what kind of lung problem she has through breathing."


Changes in respiratory diseases also bring new challenges. "The research we've been doing is really hard." Zhong pointed out that, although they have not yet clarified certain mechanisms of certain current epidemic respiratory diseases, they are always on the way to exploring.


In the Q&A session, students enthusiastically raised their hands to raise questions. Zhong Nanshan answered one by one according to the actual situation in clinical practice and research.

After the lecture, the students gave two pieces of calligraphy work made by themselves to Zhong Nanshan as presents, wishing him all the best and long happy life. During the break, Zhong talked cordially with the students to know the teaching situation of Nanshan class and asked them about their learning experience.

The student Feng Weiyi said, "I learned from Professor Zhong that 'be a good person before being a good doctor'. In addition to superb medical skills, empathy and humanistic spirit, medical ethics are also necessary qualities for a professional doctor."

4月7日上午,中国工程院院士、世界顶尖呼吸系统疾病研究者钟南山为广州医科大学2021级南山班(以钟南山名字命名的班级)学生讲授《呼吸疾病总论》。

伴随着同学们的掌声,授课正式开始。课上,钟南山院士结合自身丰富的临床和研究经验,为“00后”学生深入浅出讲解呼吸系统的医学知识。


他从“新冠肺炎现状”引入,围绕呼吸系统疾病患病情况、肺部结构及功能、呼吸疾病的危险因素及诊断、健康管理的“5P”(Predictive、Preventive、Pre-symptomatic、Personalized、Participatory)模式等方面展开详细讲解。“可以通过结合病人病史问诊,仔细观察病人症状,检测病人体征,并借助实验室和其他检查来综合判断患者的病症。”钟南山简要阐述了呼吸疾病的诊断方法。谈及过往病例,他记忆犹新,“有一位患者的呼吸声很重,虽然她还没走进房间,但通过声音,我已可以初步判断她有哪种肺部问题。”

呼吸系统疾病的变化也不断提出新的挑战。“我们一直在做的确实是很难的研究。”钟南山院士指出,对于当前的某些流行性呼吸疾病,我们尚未明确它的某些机制,探索始终在路上。

在提问互动环节,同学们踊跃举手提问。钟南山结合临床和科研工作中的实际情况一一解答。

课程结束后,同学们送上两幅全班同学亲手制作的书画,祝愿他“柿柿如意”、福寿绵长。课间休息时,他还和同学们亲切交谈,了解南山班的教学情况,并询问他们的学习体会。


冯玮宜同学说,“我从钟老师身上学习到‘学医先学做人’的道理。除了精湛的医术,同理心、人文精神、医德也是一个专业医生所必备的素养。”
