The Chaoshan area is rich in fruits, vegetables and beans, so farmers often use salt to pickle vegetables for long-term preservation. Its production techniques have a history of thousands of years, so that almost every household is engaged in pickles production related business in Pengzhong Village, Shantou City. Nowadays, pickles are not only a “homesick dish” connecting Chaoshan people at home and abroad, but also pave a new way for villagers to get rid of poverty through modern agriculture.
